Default Mid-high9s@142mph w/ 450rwhp?

My mustang friend says there is a guy that runs in a lot of the mustang races around the country and he has an 01 bullet mustang thats procharged. He didnt tell me all the specs except that he swears he only makes about 450-460rwhp and he runs mid-high 9s@142mph. Dunno the weight but id guess around 3000lbs if he's a hard core racer.
My question is-Can a Mustang or any similar weight car w/ 450rwhp run mid-high 9s@142mph?
Not trying to dis stangs cuz i love mustangs too but i just didnt think this was physically possible at that power level & weight. Anyone heard of this stang?
Seems most f-bodys even at 3k-3.2k lbs w/ 450rwhp that are all out drag run mid 10s@125-128mph or so.

He could have gears and a specifically tuned suspension as well. Plus we don't have exact weight numbers on his car, he could have EVERYTHING gutted out of that thing.

My Z ran 10.2's on motor with with a nitrous tune and it only pushed about 430 hp on the dyno. I think its possible if his car is light and tuned specifically for his application.

Either A: The dyno numbers are way off or B: The raceweight is ALOT less than 3000 lbs..... A 3000 pound raceweight vehicle is NOT going to trap 142mph.

According to smokemup.com, he would need to weigh around 2300 pounds to get a 142 with a 15% drivetrain loss. And that's assuming IDEAL traction. That equates to 447.2 at the tire and 526.1 at the fly.

Someone's wishing REAL hard.

FWIW, the best i'v put down on a Mustang dyno 442 with a race wt of 3080-3090lbs i'v gone 138, I don't think this guy is to far off plus blower cars seem to always mph a little more.

The dyno numbers dont mean ****. My blown LT1 only put down 595rwhp. The car ran 9.18 @ 154mph at 3550lbs. My NOS SBC only dynoed 625rwhp and ran 8.65 @ 165mph at 3180lbs.

Your friend failed to mention that the dragstrip goes downhill at a 20% grade.

Thats interesting....I just dyno'd the 'bird and it only made 580rwhp which I thought was really low. But that is thru a 6000 converter and 32x16 slicks and it went 9.41 @ 142 at 3200+ raceweight.

Each set-up is different based on car weight, trans choice, gear ratio and so on. My Nova makes 379 rwhp and runs mid-low 11s. A buddy Nova with a BBC makes 469 rwhp and runs 10.30's. Both cars weigh about 3400-3500 with driver and have tight convertors and 3.73 gears.

Can it be done? Sure in an all-out race set-up with lighter parts here and there.
