Default Removing bumper supports front and rear????!!!

Has anyone done it? Can you completely leave them off, or just cut off part?

Anyone know how much weight can be saved?

Do you want to sell your front support after you utake it off? I thought you can just unbolt it.

Yup, which is why I want to buy one for my conversion. Most guys that I have heard of that do this removal are race only, looking for a weight savings.

they come out in one piece. for the front, you pull out out the bottom. for the back, you take the rear bumper off (like 4 metal nuts, the tail light nuts and tail lights, 2 sheet metal screws, and abunch of those cap thingslike on the cowl.) and its just 8 bolts

I just might end up doing this, even though i do realize its less safe on the streets.

I did it on my SRT-4 it probably saved 20lbs fr and rr.

Id still like to know if the bumpers will be securely fastened without the bumper supports there? As in do they actually serve as points for the bumper cover to bolt to?

Frt Fascia does rest on the foam in front, if you dont make some kind of support you will probably see the fascia sag a bit making a small gap at the fender and a gap under the headlight covers if its a bird. This is what happened to mine but I know some people have been luckier with theirs. I am adding a small aluminum brace this summer when I do my IC swap.

i took mine off a long time ago. no problems here, just make sure they don't flex a lot while driving. it is mainly the rear. you might wanna throw some zip ties on ther to keep it real tight
