Default Skinny fronts 26x4.5 that are DOT?

Does anyone make a DOT skinny 26 x 4.5 beside the MT sportsman front?

Go to a shop like peep boys and buy a VW bug tire.

Coach, thanks for the reply.
I am already running the 165r tire at the track. I don’t like the fact that they are Radials with the slicks in the rear.
They aren’t even 25” tall. I would like to put a 26” bias tire on the car and would like to have a DOT tire sense I drive on my track tires to and from the track. I don’t want to get in an accident with non DOT tires on the street (Legalities).
I am thinking of the MT Sportsman 26” x 7.5 x15 4ply, they look to be the same size as the Front Runners but weigh 4 lbs heaver each then the Front Runners also.
I still like the fact that I can drive the car to the track on DOT tires, race and drive home.
Someday I will step it up to M/T Front Runners or DS2 and M/T 28x10.5 Drags, just not looking forward to the trailer yet.
Thought I’d ask if anyone had any other option.
Thanks, Man

I was wondering that too. I am running m/t sportsman fronts now. Is there any other tire other those that are a bias ply? Maybe a lighter one?

I know that there's lots of people that to drive on ds2's, but if something were to ever happen on the street... that could be something that would void insurance, etc. etc not having a dot approved tire on the car.

If not, I'll just stick with the m/t sprotsman fronts. They seem to last pretty good for a skinny little tire, and don't drive too bad.

Sportsmans are damn heavy, but it's really the only choice you have. I ran a 165 metric radial for a couple years and while the wobble you get w/ the radial/bias combo is annoying, I got used to it.

165r weigh 16lbs and are 24.5" tall
26x7.5 M/T Sportsman weigh 16lbs and are 26" tall
26x4.5 DS2 weigh 12lbs and are 26"tall but are not DOT

Most drag rims are not DOT legal ...some have a large stamp on the outside...which when an officer see this, can tow your car on the spot.

...insurance or other legal issues can come into play at any event. If you want to go with a little lighter tire, you could choose the lessor ply MT that is meant for cars ~3Klbs, they are about the lightest DOT tire that I can think of offhand. Unless your car is lightened up a bit, it may not be a good idea...but for the guys using tires that are speed rated at ~85mph are willing to take the risks...this may be an option, at least you have a similar matching tire from front to rear which from a stability standpoint will feel better. I'd have more faith in the MT lessor ply tire then a pep boy tire anyways. The weight distribution can be biased quite a bit if your removing a good amount of front end weight as most folks are.

just my .02

The rest of the front runners out there are not DOT (MT, Goodyear, Hoosier, Moroso, MH).
