Default Hookin on Street Tires

Well I'm pretty disapointed..

When i bought the car i traveled 500 miles to get it, when i came up i saw that the 2 rear tires were totally worn off. So i bought 2 cheap potenzas 225/60/16s from a windstar or some minivan..

Cool, so, the strip is in the way home so i thought i would take the chance to test my first V8 RWD car ever.

Boom, That dayi came up with a 14.333 with mad spinning at 7800DA.

Then on the week i replaced the tires, bought 4 stock size 245 G-Force KDWs 1

I was all excited thinking that the KDWs would work a lot better then the 225 potenzas..

To my horror i cant get 14.3 again.. 14.8s and with some luck some 14.4s runs at 7800/7900DA

WTF????! Help!?

Tire sizes could play a role (aspect ratios) also it could be worse weather, rollling resistance, wat are u 60ft? and wat did u 60ft for ur 14.3 run?

What were your sixty foots and mph's? The 7800 DA is hurting you a lot as well, that's some poor air. All told you're car is probably on par.

14.333 Run on 225 Potenzas
60ft = 2.40
mph = 95

14.410 Run on 245 KDW 1s
60ft = 2.27
mph = bad cell that day, so i dont know.. but by speedometer all runs end about the same, 95/100mph

Also at that time on the 14.333 the spare and jack were on car, 14.410 not.

i dont know WTF.. maybe the car needs service and its getting worse..

hmm other thing is that i changed the oil, that just flashed me now that i think the car needs service. But the old oil was nasty, BLACK as hell...

Now i cant really do an average run because DA temps are getting horrible with this hot days, we are getting 8400+ DA running 15s LOL

Well geez where do you live? I had 625 DA a couple weeks ago.

That 2.4 60' could be dropped enough to get you into the 13's, and the DA is taking a number of tenths away.

Don't sweat it. Practice launching to get the 60's down, get some better air sometime and you should be fine.

I would love seeing 13s, by far my car is the quickest stock Camaro around even with this problems...

Im running the KDWs at 20psi cold, should i lower them more?

Also, i dont do burn outs, they work better cold as i have been testing.

One thing i noticed on the change of tires is the feel of them..
With the KDWs on hard launches or hard WOT U turns the tires feel like they are totally floating on air. The potenzas felt more like trying to grab..

this sucks.. i guess i must take the jump to drag radials..

You dont' want to go much lower then 20 psi hot in street radials. They just don't react the same as drag radials, and especially not like a wrinkle wall slick/cheater slick.

You are correct in not doing a burnout, just spin them breifly so they are kinda warm but more importantly to quickly clean them off.
