Default bigger tire bandaid fix for me?

right now i am pushing through the convertor on the nitrous and am hitting the limitor at the 900-1000 foot mark right now. right now the combo is in a nutshell:

230 cam xe grind
stock heads
yank st4000
built 4L60e
moser 4.10
28x9 et drag (27.3" tall)
120 NX wet shot
477 rwhp on the jug (big drivetrane loss IMO)
7K limitor, shift points are about 6700-6800
not allowing the tranny to shift into 4th gear (i fear it crushing on teh spray)
@ 3500 lbs raceweight

ran 6.94 @ 102.78 1/8th
ran 10.95 @ 119 on the limitor and nitrous shutting off at 6500 rpms (window switch)

1.50 60' spinning (another seperate issue i am working out). i should go mid 1.4s next time out.

would going to a 30x9 tire with its huge roll out help me out? the convertor is flashing way high on the bottle. i think around 5K rpms!

just thinking about it because i watched and talk to a stock eliminator car with the same tire. when i was n/a i had none of these issues lol.

or should i just let it spray into 4th gear (overdrive)? its a built 4L60e but i know the realities of that unit.

The bigger tire will stall the convertor higher. The right way to fix it would be to tighten the convertor which will also help in your 60fts.

You are removing gear going to a bigger tire. Less gear means more stall.

the 30" tire would probably get you through but it wouldnt be the optimal thing to do - a tighter converter + a little less gear would help but your n/a performance will suffer some.

Just like you said, a band aid but it should get you through if you are willing to chop up the wheelwells a little.

I was having the exact same issue on the few runs I had with my Vortech setup,it was flashing too high and hitting the limiter at 1000'. I`ve had the converter tightened up about 500-600 rpms(PT4500 but on boost was stalling to 5200) it should help off the line and down track. You deffinately should thighten the converter and probably do 30" tires too.

I had the same problem with my midwest 4000 converter which acted like a 4800 stall on motor and a 5200 on nitrous. I would hit the limiter around the 1200' mark. I switched to a 3700 TCI Ultimate Street Fighter and solved the problem for now. I picked up .1 on nitrous in the 60' but lost .15 on motor and the car is 5x more driveable on the street.
