Default M6 guys, which MT 28x10.5x15 tire do your recommend?

Which MT 28x10.5x15 tire do you recommend for M6 car, standard or the S stiff side wall?
I have spoke with two very reputable M6 guys and they recommended different MT tires one recommended standard MT 28x10.5x15 and the other recommended the S.

I know that a W is working good for some, but may be a little much for me now.

The track that I normal run at is poor at best. I am running Hossier QTP Pro 26x11.5x15 with 4.11 gears and it is not getting the job done. I will change the gears to 4.56 with the new 28”tires change. I am trying for 1.4 sixty’s leaving off the Two Step @ 6500rpm with a 3400 race weight.

What do you guys recommended?
Has anyone tried both the Standard and the S stiff side wall tires?

if you are making under 500 rwhp no reason to go to the stiff sidewall IMO. the sidewall wont deflect and will still rebound (the important issue) once you get it to stick.

a W tires is a whole different story, no way you need that and its a big cutting job!

Thanks for the reply,
Hopefully in the fall I'll be adding a set AFR 225 heads and maybe a larger cam, looking for 500 rwhp. Don't know if that will make a difference.
I don’t have any experience with slicks, just trying to get the best tire for my set-up.

You will need to cut the front and rear fender wells in order to use these tires.

Are you sure that I willo need to cut for a 28x10.5x15?
Not a W!
I have Bogarts 15x9.75, I was under the impression that they will fit with maybe a little touch on the inner forward wheel well.

it depends on if your LCAs are adjustable or not. sometimes you can move them back or forward but in nearly ALL cases you have to cut the rear bumper cover (lower quarter pannel). to get them to fit.

We were running the ET streets 26x10.5x15 on our formula and switched to the ET drags 28x10.5x15 The ET drags were almost 3 inches taller and 2 inches wider. I did'nt know that the ET streets that were marked at 10.5 were only 9 inches wide.
The ET drag is a much larger tire. In order to clear the fenders we cut the front and rear panels.

et streets and drag sizes are not equavalent. you have to look at the actual measurements. et streets measure at the sidewall. et drags measure at the contact patch.

I've run both the S and regular. I think the S's are a little better, but its pretty hard to tell.

depends on how hard your chassis hits the tire, if you hit the tire really hard and are wrinkling the hell out of a normal slick, then a radial or "stiff" sidewall slick will give you a better et. the differance between a m/t 29x9x15 2 ply slick and a goodyear 30x9x15 drag radial slcik on my super stocker was 2 tenths.

Sixpackmotorsports
I have not ran true slick yet, only Hoosier DOT QTP pro 26x11.5 so it is hard to tell how hard it is hitting the tires. The QTP are not getting the job done.

2 tenths is a nice gain for a tire change.

I called MT yesterday and spoke with a tire tech, He said based on my 3400lbs race weight he definitely recommended the S. Also being a Manual was another reason for the S. He said that the standard tire would work, but the side wall would be shot after 8 or 9 passes.

Thanks for the comparison.

Thanks to all for the great info, I just wanted to final get the right tire for my set-up.
I am ordering 3055S 28x10.5x15

another tire that works really well is the et drag radial, there are cars in the psca series running low 8's on these tires
