Default Will this helmet do the job?

I don't have a fast car and don't plan on getting into 11s any time soon, so I'm looking for something cheap for now. I will get a better helmet later on, once I get money to modify my car.

So, I was wondering if this helmet will do for NAHR track? It says that it's Snell M2000, and I read that it will do the job, but I just want to confirm.

thanks

Don't get a M helmet, that's for motorcycles. It'll work for now, but eventually you'll need another one. Get an SA or K if you can.

As long as it will do the job while I'm still on budget, I think I'll be fine.

Snell 90 is the bare minimum you can get by on at the moment (they expire at the end of this year). The rating is good for 15 years with NHRA (so your M2000 would last until the end of the 2015 season), and they come out with new ones every 5 years.

You'll be fine with that one. I'm still using my M95 snowmobile helmet. As stated above you really only need a M90 for what your looking to run this season.

Thats the best advice I can give you. Personally I use a full face helmet, not because thats what was available or anything, its just that its the level of protection I wanted. Its something that only YOU can decide becasue its YOUR head thats being protected.

As for the size, go to the helmet manufactures website and they should have something that could help you. Some companies have theire own measurement system, some use the same system as a fitted baseball hat.

I use an Snell M2000 helmet made by HJC. I figure if it's good enough to protect my head if I were to crash on a motorcycle, then it should be just fine for racing my car.

Open or closed is a personal preference. I use an open face helmet myself because I prefer not having my mouth covered.

Sizing for me became somewhat of a problem. I was blessed with a rather large head, and I require an XXXL (yes, that's 3 X's) helmet. I bought mine from tonker.com for $90.00.

I used a closed face helmet. I like it b/c less noise so I can concentrate better, and with a full face helmet it can be used for mtorocycle riding or whatever else I need it for. It comes down to personal preference.
