Default 600rwhp with M/T 275/60R15 Radial, How do you hook?

After months of down time, we are finally getting the car back together. I think everything than can possibly break on the car has broken and been replaced. That being said, I think we may be able to run a full season next year.

I've been looking into the PSCA Wild Street class. It is an "anything-goes" class with one very important restriction. All cars must run on a 275/60R15 drag radial tire.

http://www.pscaracing.com/Rules/rule...ildstreet.html

We will deffinately be able to get the car down to the 3100lb weight, but I know there will be plenty of cars out there that will deffinately out horsepower mine. To stay competitive the first 60' is critical.

I would like to know who out there has figured out how to 60' on these M/T radials and what your suspension set up consists of. If you can please list suspension components, settings, horsepower, and 60' time. Or perhaps if anyone has any advice for my set up.

My Suspension mods are...

Spohn chasis mount torque arm
Spohn Drag Anti sway bar
BMR ADJ LCA's
BMR LCA Relocation brackets (lca set bottom hole)
BRM ADJ Pan Hard Bar (Upper Support removed)
QA1 "R" Front ADJ Shocks (been running 2-3 setting)
Comp Eng Rear ADJ Shocks (set at 50/50)

Would like to Launch off transbreak with 4200 stall nitrous converter.

Thanks very much for any feedback.

'Doc Otis' ran some 9.7's on a set of those tires like a year ago, maybe do a search on his username.

I've got a set waiting to be mounted or sold... My guess is that I could go mid 1.4's on them if they can hold the power.

I'd like to know what pressure to run them at. Ive got a loaner pair that have a lot of wear, I tried them last friday with poor results! I started at 16 lbs and worked down to 13 pounds but was still blowing the tires off. It doesnt help that track prep at my local track has sucked lately!! What pressure??

If you want to get rid of them I have some 28x10.5x15 ET Drags with little track time on them

everyone is going to flame the **** out of me again, but whatever. I know REAL WORLD experience.. what worked for me.. and it was 1.44 60'ing w/ 600rwhp on a turbo car leaving at 11lbs of boost off the footbrake on 9lbs of pressure.. yes 9lbs.. this was in a mono leaf car w/ slide a links. 275/60/15. the other guys said it wasnt working, i dont know if it was because of the 17" tire, or because of the fbody suspension. but I do know it did work for me, and a few other fast cars i know..

Have you put the car on scales to see what your weights are front to rear? What gears are you running? What size wheel?

I have seen good results with 10-12 psi on these tires, as opposed to 16+

to get that tire to hook your weight dist need to be right on. that tire is a fast tire but alot of hp is hard to hook on it. to me most of the wild street guys looked like they were leaving decent but then really turningit on after about the 330 mark.

I've seen good results only from 22-18 psi. Cut 1.39-1.42 60' on a 200 shot. anything less and you are leaving on the sidewalls and not the entire surface of the tire. Track prep is allways a good thing.

same here. though only in the 1.5s n/a. i ran 19-21 psi in them for best results. i lowered them to 15 psi and started spining them. i dont see a problem with high 1.4s at all on this tire. i just dont think they were meant to be run at low low psi. mine is the 275/60/15 as well.

1.57 60' so far (only a few times i have run these tires)
cam only ls1
auto 4000 stall
3500 lbs raceweight
mild cam
crappy TNT track prep

anyone who wants to give imput please add more to the post than " i have had sucess at xx psi"

I went 9.79 last year on those tires like PSJ quoted. I think your gonna have some problems leaving off the brake. I cut a 1.44 and didn't hit the jug until I was about 50' out. When I tried to leave on it, on the bottle, it would just blow em off. I cut consistent 1.48-1.50 60' times with marginal track prep N/A.

A n2o controller would be something to consider and I think leaving off the foot would be more effective than the t-brake. If you hit them tires hard with 600rwhp they aint gonna hold it unless you soften the hit with a controller and even then it might be tuff. I never got a chance to use the t-brake with the DR's all I did was foot it. Judging by the passes I've made this year on ET streets I don't think the DR's would like the t-brake at all.

I was very impressed with the way they performed, you just can't hit them hard like a slick or et street.

Thanks very much everyone for your replies, it has given me a lot to think about.

Outlaw, I have not put the car on the scales yet to weigh each corner, although I plan to in the near future. It seems every time we get ready to weigh the car we end up pulling more weight out. We are running 4.11's in the back and 15" wheels. We have been able to pull a half dozen low 1.4x 60' times on 28X10 slicks with a clutch that we found out was slipping pretty bad.

DOC OTIS, that is a very good point about the progressive controller, but unfortunately I don't believe they allow one in this class. (One of few things they don't allow.) It does look like multiple stage shots are allowed. I have though about hitting it with dry 75 shot off the line, then switching to the wet shot. After reading many posts by people who get better results foot breaking rather than using a transbreak, I'm sorry I spent the extra $$$ on the transbreak right away. Hopefully we'll have some time to try both ways before the season starts, but everything seems to lean towards the foot break.

Thanks everyone again for the input. Anyone else out there with some experience please feel free to post up.

Well even without putting the car on scales... you HAVE to change that rear end gear with these tires.. thats way to much gear. most guys in W/S are around a 3.70 range.. I take it your running a 15X10 wheel?

Kill the gear AND tighten the convertor. Your car should be able to go in the high 1.3s. The MT likes to be hit hard BUT too much of the above and it will spin. Once it starts spinning it doesnt like to hook.
