13.49 is the rule but some tracks allow 12.99 before they say something.

Roll BAR is required by the NHRA for convertibles between 13.49 and 11.00. You'll need a minimum of 5-points including a driver door bar. Most install a 6-point with both driver and passenger side door bars, but driver bar is the only one needed. Swing-out bar is also allowed.

Go faster than 11.00 or 135 mph you'll need an 8-point or higher Roll CAGE. The specific requirements vary depending on how much faster you are going than 11.00.

EDIT: I mis-read the NHRA rule book, new info posted!

Great I'm getting a 6point.
running times in my sig. I have heads, fast 90/NW90, gears waiting to be installed and bumping up the juice to150 which will put me well into the 10's

can someone show a picture of their 8point or higher setup in a vert.

NHRA and the track can lick my if think I'm putting more than a 6 point in.........love speed but love dropping the top cruising more

I've run deep into the 11's time after time with no bar at all. Just make sure your track is lax on the rules. I'm glad they hire total ******* retards nowadays, otherwise I'd be SOL.

I wouldn't chop up my car just to drive it where it spends about .00005% of it's life. But I personally hate rollbars.....some will toss one in even though they never go to the strip. To each their own.

As you mentioned to each his/her own, but remember that safety rules are there to protect YOU. I didn't really want a bar in my Nova either since I still drive it more than it gets raced, but seeing accidents at the track makes you appreciate the safety it provides. I'd much rather see tech being strict so someone doesn't get hurt without the proper equipment than not checking it out and the worst could happen.

Just my $.02

I think you can run all the way to 11.0 with the 6pt.
