Default When is it time to go up in tire size?

What factors would indicate that you would need to go from a 28" tire to a 29.5" or 30" tire? I have always ran a 29.5" tire on my previous 2nd gen. Camaros...but I am looking to run a 28"tire on the 94 Camaro with a BBC, powerglide with brake and 2-stages of nitrous...Any input would be appreciated.

Not to be a smart-***, but when you hit the rev limiter before reaching the traps, then you know you need to increase tire size.

(or change the gear set, but swapping tires is much easier)

Also, if you can't hook on your current tires, going up in size helps. The taller sidewalls take the shock of the launch better and increase your ability to hook. I imagine you knew that already based on your post.

With that setup depending on ur gearing your prolly gonna want a 29.5. Just the fact that the BBC is gonna hit the tires pretty hard. Plus ur prolly ognna be somewhere in the 150+ MPH range and like i said b4 it all basically depends on ur gearing. So I say expect to run the 29.5 and figure your gearing out accordingly

Sounds more like high 8's no?

28x10.5/ 28x10.5W will fit without doing crazy stuff. 29.5's will require boxing part of the front in by the front mount of the lca's, and more cutting, but many have done it.

Thanks for the input...I was really leaning toward 29.5's because we aren't allowed to use W's...I was just curious tho..because 28's would be alot easier to fit..Oh.well..looks like I will be mini-tubbing and modifying the frame rails..I am going to do this once....The RIGHT way.

To fit a 29.5 on a 94 camaro, you will need to:

-cut off bumpstops
-box front corner near the lca's
-might need to run race lca's and use washers to offset the lca's a bit
-cut the lip a bit
-pound in the spot above the lca, tires will rub there.

Not a huge deal, you can fit it.
