I want to be a 12 sec ls1
I got a 99 z28 M6. I know I have a long way to go, but this is what I have so far. SLP AIRLID, SMOOTH BELLOW, SLP CAI, K&N FILTER, 4.10 GEARS, MAGNAFLOW EXHAUST CATBACK, MAGNAFLOW CAT, HURST SHORT SHIFTER, stage 3 spec clutch. I havent been to the track yet, and don't know where I am sitting at horsepower wise. I see alot of guys on here with some sick cars. I am not disappointed in the speed of my car, I just want to be in the 12's, and close to 400HP. Any ideas for less than $500. I am tryin to keep from breaking myself. Thanks

With your mods, specifically gears, if you can drive at all, you will be 12's no prob
If you want low 12's high 11's, consider the following:
nitrous and you are there
or cam and intake (ls6 or fast) with long tubes and you will make your 400rwhp (or damn close to)

Agree with everyone else, with a tire and a good launch/speedshifting you're in the 12's. Too much tire and too many runs will get you a 12 and a new rear axle...
You're not too far from 400hp, with your mods. Add LS6 intake, Long Tube Headers, and a good dyno tune. 400 at the wheels will take a bit more, certainly more than just bolt ons.

You're already pretty shallow in the 12's. NOW, DONT DO MORE MODS. You will thank me. Start saving your mod money and plop down 2500 or so for a 12bolt rear end, and then go into moding again. You don't wanna kill your 10 bolt

LT headers - $370
ORY or catted Y - $130 or $350
Cutout or e-cutout - $34 or $185
LS6 manifold - $450
UD pulley - $220
SFC's - $140
STB - $80
Custom ram air plate - $50
Those are some mods I would recommend, but if your only wanting to spend $500...I'd get cutout ($34), UD pulley ($220), SFC's ($140), STB ($80) and custom ram air plate ($50). The cutout will be welded into your stock Y. It will make your exhaust louder with it un-capped and will also give you better times at the track. UD pulley's increase HP and actually give you better gas mileage. It's a smaller pulley than the stock one and it allows the motor to turn easier. SFC's tie the car's front and rear subframes together. They make the car handle better, you'll get fewer squeaks and the car will get better traction, helping you put your power to the ground. STB makes the car handle better, increases chassis rigidity and helps to stop the OEM strut towers from flexing inward or outward. The custom ram air plate goes under your air box, routed by dryer hose to the front of the grille. It sucks in air, and is well cheaper than FTRA and SSRA.
Hope this helps. That's my 2 cents.

In order to reach the 12's with your mods folow these complex steps.
1. Get gas.
2. Start car and push in clutch.
3. Rev the engine to 2500 rpm and release.
4. Shift into 2nd and 3rd only if you have 3:42's.
5. As soon as the rev limiter kicks in at 3rd you have just reached the 1/4.
6. Pull around and look to your surprise at a 12 sec slip.

with the breathing mods alone yu'd be in the neighborhood of 13 flat if you had an auto. But even with a manual you can easily get good times with the 4.10 gears unless you can't get traction. But I would not recommend better tires because you will destroy your rear end. Get a 12 bolt or a 9 inch if you wanna get serious later on.
