Drag Radial vs ET street
Did a search on this thread and the tire/wheel thread and did not see anything.
Has anyone us Mickey Thompson ET Streets then tried the new Mickey Thompson ET Drag radials. Need to get a set and wanted some opinions.
Thanks!

I went from 275/50/15 et's with radials up front and the *** end would slide all over the road.....very scary when a semi passed me in the opposite direction. Then I tried the same size ET drag radials and the car was much more stable and the 60 ft went from 1.72 to 1.69 n/a but I also knocked a good 50 lbs off the front end at that time.So my car was much more stable on the road and they didn't hurt my 60ft,my stabiloity problems were prolly mainly from the radial/bias tire mismatch but I can't see any reason to go back to et's.

I may try a set here soon, as I ran ET Streets until a few months back, and now am running ET Drags. I think she might get a set of ET Street radials for street time and maybe a few track runs.

I went from the 28/11.5/15 ET Streets to the 275/60/15 MT DRs. The 60ft of the et streets was 1.58-1.60. The DRs are 1.51-1.53. They drive great on the highway and Kickass at the strip. I very happy!

from what I have heard they are really sticky and can hold an auto but when you slam them with a hard m6 launch the byply tire of the regular et street helps give a little and the radial will spin. but just what I have gathered I still use non radila et street

Will be heading to the track this week but on the street the ET Street radial hooks better than the bias ply did for me. Since i put the 4000 converter in it was blowing away the Et Street bias ply's at the track. We'll see shortly what happens with the radials. Had 26x10.5x16 bias ply's and now have 275/50/15 DR's.

i loved my ET street radials. street drove them. went through 2 sets in 2 years. i loved them and they hooked unreal even with the 17s and a 6M. i bought a some et drags. never got a good run.

We experimented with one of my mechanics 3rd gen automatic Camaros at a bad hooking track. The M/T drag radials gave us a 1.52 60ft time, several hundreths of a second better than the M/T ET's did. The mph was higher as well.
I would agree that with a hard launching stick car, the bias ply tires softer sidewall might give a better launch. Bob

Guys that have run both the regular e.t. street and a radial, what was the difference in the way the tire grows at the track? I am running a 26 x 11.5 e.t street now, and was thinking about going to the 28 inch ET radial, but am concerned with clearance, the e.t. street was rubing very slightly when I ran them with 12 psi, if the tire pressure was up to 14 to 15, they never rubbed at all. I am not opposed to beating the inner well in some for clearance if need be, and was already planning on trimming the plastic on the rear bumper cover on the inside, down in the bottom corner where the tire just touched.. but going nuts and hacking up the whole thign to get a tire in there isn't something I wanna do. If the 28 doesn't grow at all, then I think that I can probably get away with it with minimal modification.
Anyone?

I never ran mine any lower than 15psi and never came close to rubbing. I think GATORS 99ta ran like 20 something with great results .So I think running that low on a radial would make it worse.

I know for sure the 28 inch bais ply will require clearancing... more concerned on the radial.. does it grow or not. I'm talking at 130 trap speeds, will it grow with say 18 psi in it? Not that I think I'll see 130 any time soon.. but that's where I'll most likly end up eventually.

Scroll down to the 15 inch tires... I believe the 165/80/15 would work great...

Not knowing what to expect, first launch 4500, Bog. Second launch, 6k, spin badly. Third launch, 5200ish, bog.....I do have to say once the car is rolling they stick!
I will have to try them on a prepped track to give em a fair shot.
