Default TH350 or T56 Which will be faster?????

I got my 408ci to run a couple of shake down passes,11.04,11.08.11.06 all with 1.50 60'.However my last run I broke the sprag in my 4l60e and broke my left axle,so thats that.I debating into running a TH350 with a 4000stall or a T56 with spec 3.Just wondering which one will be faster??

Faster? The T56 hands down. th350 has no overdrive.
But what i think you are asking is which would be quicker.
I would say th350 cause a heavy car with decent power (like yours probably is) will break a T56 and or the clutch.

The stick hands down no way in hell an automatic will ever be faster or quicker than a stick this is an on going argument If automatics were faster they'd run em in PRO STOCK. Put a stick in it

if you plan on racing a lot, a SPEC III won't cut it. I've been through a couple and swapped to a V. much better.

If you like goign under your car and taking the tranny out, to send it out and have it rebuilt aon a regular basis, as like blowing 1000 bucks at a clip on the best of the best clutches, go for a t56. If you want to be able to drive around town, and to go the track (on a trailer if it's more then 100 miles I'd say) and run your car, put up some good #'s and only have to pull your tranny and send it out for a redo once a year, then go for a th350.

Put a th400 in it, and change fluids and filter, and probably never take it out, unless you start spraying or go the the track weekly, in that case everythign's getting redone all the time.

if your a good driver and dont' miss gears, you will only have to take the T56 out once a year if you race a lot at the power level you are at now. I would expect a stage V to last a year also. racing on a regular basis is well over 100 passes a year in my book.

**** it and put a jefco or lenco 4 speed in it!

thats what i want soooo bad... that would be awesome on the street and strip...

you could have 4.10 rear gears and have the 4th gear in the jefco at like .8 or something... that would be soo bad ***

hitting the big lighting rods, oh baby!

You'll never get a consensus on this.
If you want to be a supra and have a high mph and slower et, go T-56
If you want to have a lower mph and quicker et, go TH350

spend the money and get the lenco/jefco... youll have the best of both worlds...

no maintenance what so ever...

i have friends who runs 5.0x in the 8th and spraying about 550shot and never had one issue with his jefco... he said he felt guilty about it and changed the tranny fluid once last year.

Put a TH400 with a transbrake and it will outlast your car.

The T56 is ok for running about stock power on the street but everyone knows that planetary gears are more hardy against the kinds of strain you are going to be putting on it.

Your car isn't faster if it breaks down at the track.

10.6 at 128 with a trans brake 400 not good enough?

its nothing like a stick car launching off the revlimiter

jeffco is like a lenco.... it's a clutchless manual tranny.
