A 28" tall front tire would give you more rollout and that would lower your ET. Not sure if there is enough clearance to run them on the front with out some kind of modification. NHRA Stock Eliminator F-bodies run a 27" or 28" front tire with a 30" tall rear tire. I have 26" rear and 26" front.
(IMO a 28" front tire wouldn't look right with a 26" tall rear tire)

No it's not a silly question. Here is my experience.

1999 SS Camaro
Hal single adjustable shocks in the front (not the R's).
Hal shocks in the front.
LS1 aluminum block.

Never had a problem with MT 26" (actually 25.9) skinnies up front. I tried the MT 27" (actually 27.3) and they rubbed up top like a ****. Tore the plastic wheel well insert right off the car. Went back to 26".

LS1 8.0 iron block.
Ride height standard

26" MT's started to rub a little up top on braking when I switched to the iron block. It's wearing the tires out quicker than I would like. The Hal coil overs have no more adjustment left in them. I am in the process of clearancing so I can possible run a 27 or 28" tire.

Personally, I don't see how a 27" or 28" tire could be used without clearancing.

I'll post some pics later if anyone is interested.

What kind of drag racing do you do?
If you are bracket racing you would want as much rollout as you can get. If you are racing a pro-tree then you would want a small front runner.
In Bracket Racing rollout is KING... but you don't have to go with a giant tire up front. you can get the same effect by offsetting the front wheels. I set up bracket cars with the right tire forward in the well and the driver front farther back in the well.
I would not go any taller than 26" fronts with a 26" slick.

So for roll-out and speed, the larger tire is better?

I am going to get a set of Moroso DS-2's they are available in 25",26" & 28"

What would going down to a 25" do? And what do you think would have to be done to clearance for a 28"?

A taller tire will take longer to roll out of the beams and give you a little head start on the green. it will give you a little more speed and less ET. A shorter tire will give you a quicker reaction time .

So long story short,

I am a racer who just wants to squeeze everything out of my car that I can get, and when I do sanctioned racing... it is bracket racing... I should go with the tallest tire I can squeeze in there?

thanks
