Default What is the rear spring of choice? And whos running a rear coil-over setup?

Trying to decide what rear springs to get. Mostly a street/drag race application, but will be running a few road courses this year. Would like to lower it about 1" so that leaves me with BMR or Hotchkis.

I've even considered going to a rear coil over for adjustablility. Whos running one, and who makes a kit besides spohn?

Hi John! What about removing the rear spring "cushion"? Should get you about an inch. I just went to the Spohn coil overs but the only corners I'll be taking is to the return lane! We still need to talk about some NSCA dates for this year.

I have the rear qa1 coilovers with 150lb springs and you can change the ride height till you get it where you want it!!

Yea I've thought of that, I just don't want to get a crappy ride quality or get bad NVH from it. And I think it only drops like .5-.75". Those spohn rear coil overs caught my eye. I'm just leary of running those in a street car. But the ride height possibilities are endless!!

Are you going all out trying to make all 7 races this year? The last time I looked into it it was gonna cost $165 (or something like that) in entry fees every race. That plus cost of traveling and gas would kill me if I wasn't competitive. And still not too sure how competitive i'd be seeing as i'd probably be the ONLY stick shift trying to run an index class.

I did the 150lb springs for the stiffness to plant the tires in the rear, I don't thing you want the tail end to squat to much right? In the Front I have the R Series with the 275lb springs.

I would think you'd want it to squat harder. More weight transfer.

From what I have read you don't want it to squat to much or it could hurt your 60fts I believe.

They are not hard to put in at all, there is only one reinforcement plate per side to weld in. Her is a Link to the kit with pics.

Only problem is that coilovers are not legal in some racing organizations. They look sharp.

I'd keep the squat to a minimum, too much squatting is wasted energy. Go get some 93-96 v6 springs, put 'em in back, and see. I did that in 2000-2001.

but some "squat" is needed. its weight transfer. I'd rather have a car transfer to much weight and dial it out then not transfer enough and have to try and dial it in

Barely any squat is what you want to shoot for. I've done the too much squat thing and there is such a thing as way too much. Put some V6 springs in back and put some QA1's real soft and you will see. Car will squat and then go straight up.

Incorrect, squat is wasted kinetic energy. If you see a properly setup drag car, the rear end will rise a little as well when the front end comes up.
