Default Front mounted fuel cells. Bad idea?

So I already have a fuel cell for my nitrous up front on the passenger side and now I want to install a 2-3 gallon cell on the opposite side for the motor alone. Is it a bad idea to have all this fluid in front on my tires? I guess it could get pretty ugly if gas started leaking out and getting under my tires going down the track.

I want to open up this hole on the driver side it mount it there just like I have the nitrous fuel cell on the passenger side

NHRA tech people might have a problem with it. The cell is supposed to be within the frame rails and protected from any direct impact spot and protected by some sort of metal sheild incase something flys up off the track it does not have a direct path into the cell.

Now this is just what the NHRA tech's out here have told me.

Technically it needs to have a piece of 1.25-.065 tubing around it regardless of where it is. Ideally within the frame rails. However, a large number of people (myself included) have put standalone fuel cells in that space and have never been questioned about it once.

Thanks for the help guys. Techs down here in Houston aren't really that strict so I don't think they would hassle me if I put it there. I'll guess I'll just have to think about this a bit.

IF you put a cell in the front and its a plastic one make sure you run a ground wire from the cap retainer bolt to the frame. That is the one thing that the tech inspectors are looking for. Otherwise I do reccommend Derty's idea. It is NHRA required.

Here is where mine is mounted. My friend kind of just bent up a bracket to go around it then we secured it to the car with self tapping screws. Nothing fancy but it served its purpose.
