Default 4.10'S, RPM's spinning too high! what size tire do I need???

Went to the track for the first time with 4.10's and found myself spinning 6600-6700 at the end of the run in 4th gear, which is a bit high for my taste. I'm running stock 275/40/17 and have an M6 and the car is lowered with Eibach springs, the smaller of the two kits. I checked the fbody.org/gears site, but it said I should only be at 6100 RPM's @114mph, but the tach definitely read 66-6700.

I'm also looking to run MT street radials on a smaller rim. What overall diameter tire should I run to lower my RPMs enough so I'm finishing around 6300-6400, 6500 tops keeping in mind I need to stuff into a wheel well of a lowered car.

Also, are there options I'm not considering that would make me better off???

get your self a 27'' tire if you want to drop the rpm's. the 27'' tire needs no mods to fit. i run the m&h racemaster cheeter slicks. i've tried m/t's and hoosier, the m&h out hooked both of them for me. www.intercotire.com. if you don't see the 27'' call, they do have them. goodluck to ya.

I'll have to look into those for sure. As long as I can fit em under a lowered car, I'll go as big as I can

Just out of curiosity, do you have an aftermarket or stock tach? Stock tachs can often read a few hundred RPM different than you are actually turning.

It's the stock one. I was thinking that myself, and just started looking into getting an aftermarket. It seems to match up pretty close to the shift light though. I also just found out, I may have been letting off later than necessary to finish. The track in Dallas finished a bit past the time signs and a light flashed, sounds like this track finishes right at the sign. Either way, I still want to shove as much sidewall in a lowered vehicle as possible. or look for suggestions of spring selection at a higher height with a bigger tire.

Well, if you want to swap springs I would say go with a set of 93-97 v6 springs. They will allow more weight transfer, and also give you bit more room for tire than you have now.
