Default Rear swaybar upgrade....I did search

I've heard that there are advantages from launching/traction by running a bigger rear swaybar in our cars. I believe stock to be 19mm, and I have the chance to pick up a nice 24mm piece for a good price, with poly bushings.

Can someone elaborate for me? Will this really improve off-the-line traction, and will this improve handling to boot?

A search yielded vague or no results. Thanks!

I got one off of a older (90) WS6 formula, it was 21mm I belive and it was free, my car launched striaght before but wasn't all that fast. I haven't been able to run it on stick tires yet to see if it still does. It did improve handling in my opinion also.

The faster your car is the more it will help. If you're running a 14 second ET then it wont help as much as if you're running 11's.

The stiffer rear sway eliminates any roll in the rear and allows for a harder/straighter launch for the rear.

That's what I'm looking for. The car hits hard on the launch, and although an airbag would probably help, it likes to nose to the left. I could probably do well with upgrading my BMR PHR to one of their adjustable ones.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure the only reason for a adjustable PHR is to center the rear under the car if your lowered.

You're right, adjustable PHRs are mostly for lowered cars.

A larger rear bar will make your car lean more into oversteer due to the fact that its much stiffer and has less give around corners.

I just got the Spohn Drag bar. I tested it out on wed night and it worked great. I got a nice wheels up launch and some guy told me later my front tires were about 3 ft up. Straight as can be too.
