Default 28 x 9 slick... which one?

Ok... I am going to step up to a slick on my GTO and need to decide fairly soon.

I wanted to get the MT DRAG 28 x 10.5 x 15 stiff sidewall slick, but I am worried that it will rub and I have already done pretty much all I can with the fender wheels and inner wells.

So I am thinking a 9" slick will still be plenty wide, but no one has the stiff compound I want in a 28 x 9 slick.

So I am stuck between MT Drags or Hoosiers. Anyone want to shed some light here and let me know thoughts on these options? Is one going to be any better than the other?

Getting any parts to work on this GTO is hell and I am trying to make this change as painless as possible, so if you guys think I will be alright with a 28 x 9 then thats what I will go with.

Thanks

I've had great luck with M/T stuff on both cars, and have been running M/T tires since 1995.

You may want to check out their website or give them a call, I thought they had a stiff sidewall 9" wide tire already.

i had good luck with the 28x9 since it is a "short and narrow" 28" tire. i believe the sidewall compound is slightly stiffer than the regular 28x10 et drag. on the heavy car i would take the stiffer if possible.

I can't remember my compound but I loved my 28x9 Hoosiers! Went 1.37 on them about 4 years ago.

I ran well on the M/T 28x9s, they are only a little over 27" tall though so they will fit a little easier. I'm not sure if the hoosiers are really 28" or not..
