serpentine belt removal?

Default serpentine belt removal?

some guys were telling me that i should take the serpentine belt off for the track and then jus put it back on?? now im a lil fuzzy on this, and curious as to how hard it would be to take off and what the effects would or could be....call me stupid but i thought the alternater was on the serpentine belt along with all the accessories....someone plz help clarify this for me as well as if you think it would be worth it.....personally i dont konw why it would cuz you never race on the street without your belt but hey whatever....i guess i could have a timeslip race with someone, it would be kind of cool to see how much hp and tq your acc.. rob you of

yes, your car will be running off the battery without a belt and no water pump unless you have an electric water pump like the Meziere unit.

dumbass's tryin to get me to run with no water pump....good way to **** **** up not to mention waste my battery!!!!! thanks ransom for clearing that up

you could use a shortbelt that bypasses the AC and power steering.

I used to do that, takes away your power steering, but then again we are going in a strait line anyway. LOL

Now I have an electric water pump, so I can remove the belt all together for a pass or two. But I can only do that at a track rental day, cause waiting in line to run will kill my battery. I have not tried it yet, but I am sure I will in the fall.

Um....ac runs on a seperate belt. But I know the mustang guys would commonly take off the belt to free up some ponies. One run without it isnt going to destroy your motor by anymeans. Just watch the temp gauge.....actually I wouldnt really do it. Maybe in a street race.

the short belt mod did nothing for me at the track.
