Default How much Tubing to order for 10pt cage install??

Well, my car is heading to Alfred State college at the end of the month with buddy who is enrolled in their ASE service Tech program and Motorsports program. Anyway their fall semester class is chassis engineering so my car is going to serve as my buddies project car.

Their going to Back Half and 4 Link it as well as Install the 10pt cage as well as additional bracing for the Back Half. Im going to order the square and round tubing through our Local Cummins Engine plant here in Jamestown, NY, since ive got a few friends in management. I think they get around 45% off cost so itl be nice.

I want to go with 1.75" DOM Chromoly but how much should I order given their 20ft Lengths I believe??

10 pt and back half? Order 80 feet of round tube and 20 feet of square tube to be safe. You can probably return the materials you don't cut, but if not it still can't be that bad price wise. BTW, where are you located?

Why are you using 1.75". Get 1.625. It will be lighter and the bends will look better. Otherwise Nate is correct.

You only need .083 if I remember correctly with 1-5/8". I could be wrong though.

lol good point, I was just on SW Racecars sight looking at Thier back half kits. I really liked the look of their Round Tube Kits it they were the same Diameter as the Roll Cage tubing. So I may go down that route and get all round tubing.

WOuld the round tubing be inherently stronger compare to square tubing?

-thanks,
