Gears/convertor revisited..
How much difference in 60' times could be expected (w/500rwhp)if I swapped my 3.42 rear w/a Yank SY3500 to a 3.90 or 4.10 rear and a SS4000 convertor? (or some other "similar" hopefully streetable convertor)
I realize that it all depends on traction....
As always, thanks in advance for the assist..

I make a little over 400 rwhp and I have a ss4000 with 4.11s and full susspension. I can't get my 60s into the 1.5s due to spinning. I have bogarts and 27" Hoosier QTPs. I've tried alot of things to get it to hook but it seems like it just hits too hard. I think it's just too much gear for a large converter. I think I could get it to hook if I went with a 28" slick but I like to drive it on the street. I'm going to change to 3.23s once I put a supercharger on it.
How do you 60' now? Can you just flash it off the line and hook but it's just not 60ing that well? I have to brake stall to like 3000 and then slowly go all the way into it to pull the 1.6s, anything more agressive than that and it just spins.

I think the SS4000 would be a bad choice for your setup. Way too much STR and not enough top end. That is designed to be a street N/A converter mainly.
Your SY is a good choice IMO, and I bet it stalls a lot higher than 3500 in your car.
I'm considering changing to a Super Yank or other race converter with a lower STR and more top end power in the future when I change out my rear end with a higher numerical gear ratio.
