Default 4.10s=Out Of Gear By The Traps?

Ok, I have mods in sig. I have read alot about how you should leave it in D so it wont shift into OD at WOT. Problem is, it seems like I would be out of 3rd gear before I would get through the traps. I dont want to be slow because I need a shift right b4 the finish, and I dont want to burn up my tranny. Do I need to run a certain size tire to remedy? Anyone have experience on this? I am sure I am not the only 4.10 auto car. Thanks.

You have 3 options:

1) increase tire diameter
2) increase the redline / shift rpms
3) change the gear

The attached site will help

up the rev limiter some, and leave teh shift points alone if you are happy with them, the car will just run 3rd gear up a little higher at the end... with your mods I'd think a 107 trap would be about all it will have, so you aren't gonna be that high in the rpm at the end anyway.

This can be frustrating, I know I had the same exact problem. I had my shift points expanded in third to prevent it from shifting before it reached the 1/4 mile mark. The 4:10 gears rock, but I have busted two set of gears with my 4200 Yank converter. However, for some reason, the set of gears I have now, have lasted the longest. I had mine custom tune for my needs. Hope this helps.

My rev limiter is set at 6,100 right now. Is that gonna be enough?

First gear is set at 6200, second gear is set at 6100, and in third gear the MPH was increased to prevent the car from shifting into fourth. My timming is set at 28. This was done by mail order tune and this was the basis I started from. In the near future, first and second shifts will be adjusted individually to try to get some more ET and MPH out of the car--I believe there is a little more there. I am trying to get on the SI 50 list--that is my goal.

Before the above adjustment was made, my best ET was in the 12.20's. Then I gradually went down to 11.90 in good weather. I am giving you some information to think about. Email me if you any more questions. Cheers.
