Default rear girdles?

Do you guys think that the girdles for the stock rear ends actually work. I heard a lot about breaking rear ends and I've even had warranty work on mine (internals). However, when you guys say that your rearend broke,do you think this item would have prevented it?

Well, I am using one on my stock rear, and so far so good. I launch pretty hard on the street sometimes, and I have a stick. So, at 107000 miles, its still goin strong. But, Im not pushing my luck, Im prolly gonna get in on the dana 60 GP goin on now.
But like I said, it cant hurt! And it has held mine together for a long time. Hope that helps some...

I had one on my 10 bolt (4.10s) and made several track passes on some QTPs. No breakage for me.

For those of you that have broken your rearends, was it internals or was it something that this case would have at least reinforced if not prevented?

me and my buddy both got um and he was launching on 4.10's, m6, on nitrous..... none the less he broke a axle but the gears were still perfect. Bascially a girdle help prevents gear defelection, so in his case the girdle did exactely what its supposed to do, he didnt break his gears, only snapped a axle. $80 ebay axle back in and hes ready to go again. moral of the story, i wouldnt run without it!

compared to a fether there heavy, compared to the whole car its light. Thats not a issue. If it holds it toghter who cares about the weight. Its all aluminum... how heavy you think it is?

I've had one on nearly every Camaro I've owned and never broken a stock rearend. I launch hard and run mid 12's on a nearly stock 2001 SS. If you have T-tops, might I suggest a good strut tower brace and most definatly sub frame connectors. They help keep the integrety of the car, thus proving for a straighter launch too.
