Default Just ordered my Cage and Back half kit tubing! all 4130 Chromoly

Im stoked, the cars headn to the chassis shop as soon as the tubing gets in. ordered a 160ft of 1.625 DOM 4130 DOM Chromoly. Final price was 68 bucks a stick (20ft). I ended up ordering it through my buddy at RIT in Rochester NY and their Baja Team. 160ft is definately way more than I need but its nice to have extra. il post pics as soon as I can.

were doing something simliar to this, standard 10pt point but im using the round tubing for the back half and all of the associated tubing that goes along with that. plus, were gonna run the bars through the firewall and into the engine compartment and tie into the front frame rail. all in all I figure using 120ft max but i got a good deal on the 4130 so i figured Id stock up a bit, i may end up selling the extra off idk yet.

These are of 9sec93s car but same idea

and front bars

tthats a serious setup...i like the front bars and how the front suspension is tied into them...cleans up a ton of room in the front, and i'm sure that lost a lot of weight up there too.

hey john, thanks for appreciating all the work i've put into my car. it is meeting and talking to people like you that make the car so much fun and worth all the labor. i have been driving it alot lately and it really does ride pretty nice. at first it was a little rough but i disconnected a link from the anti-roll bar and that did the trick for street driving. be sure to keep us posted with many many progress pics. if anyone wants more pics of my car pm me your email address and i will send you the build-up pics so we dont hijack john's thread. thank you and good luck! phil.

Thats seems like a pretty good price. I paid just over $4 bucks a foot last year for a stick.

how are you liking those tires? Ride, traction, etc im trying to narrow down what I want im looking at MT sportsman pros 33x22x15 since those are the fattest I can get, lol.

well i know i can fit atleasta 32x18 but i wanted the drag radial for the streetability and for the track use. i havent had it to the track because im awaiting a dyno tune but did a small burn-out near my house and they got pretty sticky. i like the m/t's alot. the sportsman pro's are a huge tire but you would hook much better with the drag radials. there are cars going 8's and faster on the 315/60 drag radial. just do what i did. mock the car up to fit a huge tire incase you ever want one but run a big drag radial so it is good for track and street. i still have 7" of clearance between the iside of my tire and the frame rail.

true,

Looks like im gonna go with a 24in rear frame where as yours is a 29" correct? that being the case, il be able to fit the 33x22x15 no problem so if i want to scale down the tire i can. My emphasis isnt entirely on building the car for the track since it will see alot of street time, its definately gona have the coolness factor and big tires are cool, lol. Were going to revamp the stock 10bolt i have and fab some fourlink brackets on it and shock mounts as well, that way i can throw the 10bolt in with a set of ZR1s and decent street tires for cruising and swap in the 9inch when its racing time. This would leave my options open should I want to run the Sportsmans or an all out slick.

I realize that there are guys going way faster than this on a much smaller tire but thats not what Im building the car for, will it be fast, yes. Do i want to have a fat tire yes, lol
