Default How do I find out if a 28" tire will keep me out of 5th gear

I have a 6 speed with a 4.11 9 inch and Im currently shifting into 5th gear about 100 yards before the traps. Im hoping I can change tires size and keep my 4.11's. Im currently running 245/55/16 MT Et street drag radials which I think comes out to a 26" tire. Thanks

How fast are you running. That has to be a 9 sec car at least to run out of gear like that .

What do you turn it to, and what does it trap? We'll need to know that first.

****, I wish it was a 9 sec car. Well right now Im having to shift it way before redline because the ignition is breaking up. But I'm in 5th gear so early it doesnt seem like it would make enough of a difference to keep me out it even if I run it to 6500. Im going to pick up my new plug wires today so we'll see if I can run it to redline after that.

Thanks Eddie

Well that calculator says I should be able to go to 130 mph in 4th gear with a 28" tire and I'm right at the threshold for the speed on a 26" so I think its time to go bigger

with 4.30 gears/26'' tire,m6 car, i stayed in 4th gear at the end of the 1/4mi shifting at 6,700rpm's. my rev is at 7,200rpm's. raise the rev. if you go 28'' tire and don't have the power it will kill your 60 foot. also...i stay in 4th gear even on a 150 shot, all i do is shift at 5,500rpm's on the spray and it keeps me in 4th.
