FWIW- Mine stopped on a dime as long as I was driving around. I only had issues when trying to foot brake it. I had 8" of vacuum when I first held the brake pedal and when I eased up to inch in on the tree, I would lose another few inches and was hard to hold. On the other end of the track it had good stopping ablity. I also ran a vacuum canister that helped also. It's perfectly safe just hard to load up the converter to launch is all.

248/252 112+4 cam shaft

My car stopped on a dime (like stock), but if you try to stage up and launch, car will push through the beams. It's not a safety issue in any way what so ever.

My cam is over 250* in a 402 and my brakes work fine. I've got LS1 brakes on all 4 corners and a LS1 master cylinder... no problems at all.

Why not fully stage at idle, then load 'er up? Holds the car a lot better.

If I can do it on a Pro Tree with my Turbo I-6 car, you guys should be able to do it V8 N/A. I do use a 50-shot to help get things going, cause I cant get much boost on the line!

Each time you lift the brake pedal to blink in, you lose some of the vacuum that's needed to hold the car. Blink it 3 times to shallow stage at idle and you are left with almost no vacuum and if you bring the rpms up to load the converter, you are gonna roll.

On a pro tree I load up blink in once and I'm ready to launch.

I fixed the problem by going to a manual brake set up and it rocks!

If you are racing occassionally on a weekend for just a 1/8 or 1/4 mile time then don't worry about the vacuum issue.

I race competitively every chance I get and lost twice by pushing through the beams while staging. It won't ever happen again with the manual brakes

Or get a Hydraboost (sp?) brake booster. My buddy has one on his Syclone - he said he can stop the truck with one toe!
