Default Need help with shift points!

Never done any drag racing with M6 and don't plan on it. I am going back to Road Atlanta Dec 2nd and the backstretch there is about 3/4 mi. I need to know how to shift to get the most speed. You come out of a tight turn at around 40 mph, so basically it would be like street racing from a roll. I stayed in 3rd and then shifted to 4th around 6000 rpms. My dyno sheet says my peak hp is from 5250 to 6000 rpms. Do I try to keep rpms at peak hp levels at all times? Do I go over enough so upshift is closer to the peak level. Car pulled fine, just want to make sure I can get all I can get down the backstretch. I was following a pacer car so the fastest I ever went was 120 mph, but I will have open track in Dec. Is it worth the NO2 for the extra acceleration? Thoughts would be appreciated.

I wouldn't use spray on a road course although it would be pretty cool to see the face of the guy behind you. lol.

As far as shifting, you want to shift around 500rpm above your peak power. When you shift into the next gear it will put you in the meat of your power band. 500rpms past peak is generally going to be near redline. Case in point, my peak power is 6200rpms and I shift at 6800-7000rpms when I race. Hope this helps. -Mark

I was thinking if I had the WOT switch, it would just kick in to get me up to speed down the back stretch. It seems like it would be like doing 7 1/4 mi runs. It might not be feasible, but I got dusted there by a '65 Cobra Gt with 500 hp. I thought it would be a quick way for some extra HP.

I am a drag racer only, but I was tought to shift 800-1000 above peak power.

Don't know if it's the same, try a few rpm's and keep good records.

N2O would be pretty tricky, it's not as easy as u might think, the timing must change as you go on & off also.
