how do i remove the center console?

Default how do i remove the center console?

Im removing the sound deadening from beneath the carpet and the center console is stopping me from finishing. how do i remove the center console?
I already got the 4 bolts inside the center and the 2 on the sides, idk whats holding it down. My TA is an sutomatic, do i have to remove the shifter? how

and how do i remove the side door panels, i want to remove the side impact bars. i got the 3 screws out but idk where to go from there.

Well Im not sure on 4th gens, but on 3rd gens there was a giant staple holding the shift **** on the autos.

As for the door panels, lower the window, undo the 3 screws, I think there is another screw on the small section that holds the window switch too, pop out the window switch and unhook the switches/light, disconnect the sliding lock lever and pull the panel up. Its really easy after the first time. Just like sex.

I took out my carpet, i had to cut the middle of the carpet because i couldnt get the console off. w/e im removing all the sound deading and cleaning the carpet. next is taking out the side impact bars but idk how to do that

istead of cleaning your old carpet,why not just get some light weight carpet?i think its called ozite but im not 100% sure.i read about it here on this site so do a search and youll find it

Unless your car is caged, takin gout the side bars isn't very smart. There not very easy to get out either. If you couldn't get the center console out, I def. would not attempt the side bars in the door.

yeah,there are plenty of things you can remove besides the door bars to shed weight
