What point roll cage for 9 second passes?
Yeah, I do not want to have any problems with the track officials later down the road. So I was wondering what point roll cage was necessary for 9 second passes? Like could someone show me for each time what cage is necessary. Like 11.9 or better this cage is neccessary, 10 or better this is necessary ect. It would be a big help. Thanks guys.

11.00-11.49 a 5-point roll bar is acceptable
10.00-10.99 a 5-point roll bar is acceptable IF the floorboards and firewall remain unmodified (typically true for most f-bodies), otherwise you need a sportsman cage
8.50-9.99 what you need is a sportsman cage as defined by the NHRA or IHRA rulebook. This will make you legal down to 8.50 ETs
7.50-8.49 Need a SFI 25.5 spec cage and weigh 3600 lbs max
6.00-7.49 Need a SFI 25.2 spec cage and weight 3200 lbs max
More than you probably wanted

this is just a little paragragh i made a while back, about pts, of cages and rollbars[under 10.0 you do need a cage]
the right way to find out what you guys need to no is contact your division headquarters be it nhra/ihra they are the ones who make the rules ,or contact a competent shop who build cars ,also a lot of guys are calling roll bars cages this is also wrong [this is quite common]so when some one calls for quote first we have to find out what they are talking about :drivepro
heres a paragraph i made for the fast ls1 site [it is also post in ls1 tech a few times as people asked ] alot of people are useing the wrong terminoligy] ,a cage is a cage and a roll bar is a roll bar[a roll bar can have 5pts 6pts 7pts and8 pts,a cage can have 6 pt ,8,10 12pts] a lot of people call up for cages and their trying to ask for roll bars its a common mistake
,most cages are actualy are 6pt unless 2 diagnal bars go to tunnel or frame connectors[before everyone jumps on me the 2 side bars usually go to the front uprights so unless you have the 2 diags like i said and they are mandatory when a cage is put on plates[pge 209 of rule book see diag. read D] if its a chassis car[ ie chevelle, malibu, corvetteanything with a full frame under it]the cage then has to be mounted to the chassis and dosnt require the 2 diags to tunnel. what else is needed are ,a window net, padding anywhere drivers helmet can contact[pge 203], and the instaler should put tabs for required shoulder harness [so its bolted to spine bar and cannot slip off you in case of accident]and if you go faster than 9.99 a chassis cert that should cover the basics hope this helps. bob

I don't have my 2006 book here, but I remember there being some requirement as "either/or", then the 135 MPH limit kicks in....
I guess "CRS" has reared it's ugly head, this Am....

Man, talk about some mis-information floating around.
arm restraints are only required in open body cars.
Parachutes aren't required till you hit 150 mph, not 135.
SFI transmission shield is required quicker than 10.99 or 135 mph
SFI flexplate shield required at 9.99 or 135 mph
window net required when vehicle is required to have full roll CAGE, i.e. 9.99 and quicker.
Come to think of it, my 2003 rule book needs replacing...wonder why NHRA failed ot supply me with a new one when I renewed my subscription along with licensing this past spring?
