4 ply or 8 ply sportsman front runners?

4 ply or 8 ply sportsman front runners? I gotta get some MT sportsman front runners, these cheapo VW tires look almost flat under the weight of my car and I could use the extra ride height. Do I need the 4 ply or 8 ply (for heavier cars) for my car? It weights about 3800 with me in it, and has an iron block 408 w/ a D1SC and FMIC, not to mention all the stock **** (A/C, etc.). So theres a fair amount of weight over the front end. Is there a downside to using the 8 ply's if the car weren't so heavy (as in if I lightened it up later on)? I see they are a little heavier than the 4 ply's, but like it matters in this tank. If you go by MT's recommendations I need the 8 ply, but we've used the 4 ply on some average weight cars with no problems. Just wanted to make sure before I order.

Get the 8-ply if you plan on driving on the street. I just drove my car nearly 500 miles to the track and back with 8-ply fronts and MT DR's. The ride was very smooth and comfortable.
