Default What am I doin wrong??

ok, so I went out this Saturday to try for my first pass in the 12's.

It still didn't happen. Here is what my slip read:

R/T: .589
60': 2.18
330: 5.68
1/8: 8.56
MPH: 85.44
1000: ......
1/4: 13.11
MPH: 108.66

My damn MPH is there for a good 12 second pass but I'm just not gettin there. I had 2 other runs that were 13.15 & 13.17, both @ 108.xx

On the 13.15 run my 60' was a 2.0 so I figured the tenth I cut there should have at least put me at a low 13.0x or 12.99, but hell no. All 3 runs were 13.1x @ 108 so at least I'm consistant.

The DA for the day was 750' & track elevation is 900' at the starting line. So we had great air conditions.

I do run street tires though. I already broke (1) 10-bolt so no sticky tires on this one. I know some tires would help, but with my trap I should be able to get a 12 on street tires I would think.

practice your launch more or get sticky tires. One you get your 60' times down your mph will drop so don't let that fool you.

Well, I'm goin back tomorrow to try again. I kinda got a new plan for launching. We shall see how it works out. If by some grace of god I can muster a 1.9 60' on street tires I should get a good solid pass in the 12's.

I'm gonna have a buddy thats been racing for a while there with me. Maybe he will notice something I'm missing. Got my fingers crossed.

You have a tire problem... dont' fight city hall on it, get a set of the m't radials on it and try again. You should be able to leave at at least 4500 letting the clutch out quick and gassing up so it doesn't bog with them, and get the 60 foot down into the 1.8x range... that should be enough to get you a 12 second run.

Or, get some weight out before you go next time... that will only help as well. ditch the front swaybar, and anything else you can find.

a 2.0 60 isn't bad for a m6, i was going to give ya some tips but i have an auto, but it can be done on street tires with the right track prep, when i ran a 108.5mph i was right at 12.94 so you are right about there...

To update on this....Mike went to the track last Saturday (November 18) and was still cutting 2.0 short times but did squeeze out a 12.99 @ 108 on street tires.

just for comparison, I had to have 109.8mph to get 12.97 on a 2.1 60'. That was with a lid/cutout.
