Lightbulb How to drop my 60...

HELP

Well, I've had the car out several times to Kennedale here in DFW and, althoughit seems to be running right, tune is good, and making 400 @ the wheels, I can't seem to cut less than a 1.9 60 foot.

I've got 3:73's, a 2800 stall vert, M/T Dr's, an LG Motorsport T/A, weld in SFC's, Adj. LG LCA's, cam, LT's, etc, etc....but nada.

In the 1/8th mile I am the 8.0 king. Runs it every time so....I come for advice. Anyone have some input??

Are you launching off idle or stalling it up?

I've tried stalling it up but it's crept over the line once or twice making the little red bulb come on...Ok...I'll dime myself out....driver malfunction....

Just try different rpms to launch from, see how much your stall will hold before you start to creep forward and try launching from a few hundred rpms below that. My old st 3500 did best when I launched as high as I could.

I'll try that. I also think I need a bigger vert' I only drive the car once in a blue moon now and it see's extremely limited street use at that.

Since I took it out of service w/ the PD, I've been trying to get it to where I can actually push the button on the NX systems but, I would like to see if I can get the damn thing to run decent N/A.

2800 is such a tiny converter. i have always felt it was easier to launch a looser converter than a tighter one. you have more play with it.

no substitute for a good drag radial and a good converter. you seem like you have a good tire in there. what tire psi? big or small burnout? ar eyou spinning or hooking?

practice practice. getting a bigger converter in there will help imo. no reason that car doesnt go 1.6-1.7 60' on the nitrous

Around 20 lbs. Mid sized burnout...till it starts to grab, then a little dry hop, still spins abit when comming out.

What are you guys setting your pinion angle at? Not sure if there is much difference between auto or M6 but I've found -2.5 to work best for me so far, that could be a good starting point.

Kev, I dont recommend that dry hop after the burnout. It actually takes the heat out of the tires. Do a little burnout but come out spinning at half throttle untill it starts to bog and make the back end squat. Then pull up and stage. M/t dont seem to like a big burnout from what I have found.

get yourself some m/t et street DRAG RADIALS and STOCK 16" snowflake rims (they're cheap and the lightest of the stock 16" wheels). drop tire pressure to 14 psi. do a HEALTHY burnout, then proceed straight to the line. tq the car up to ~1,500 then flash it off the line when you see green.

i would highly suggest a 4k+ stall speed. i went 4k and wish i had gone larger. i managed consistent 1.62 - 1.64 60' in my full weight bolt-on z28 with 373 gears and 255/50/16 tires mounted on stock snowflake rims.

Your stall DOES sound to small, My full bolt-on LT1 car with 4.10's is about to have a 3200 stall put in.

Don't just go with a stall that someone recomends, do your homework and then go from there.

If I listened to everyone I would have a 3800-4k stall and I don't need it.

With just having the cam and all I bet most shops will tell you a 3800 or so.

Keep this in mind, there are a lot of 9 second cars out there with under a 4k stall.
There is some in the 8's with a 4k....

You want your stall to match your powerband. If you start making power at say 3000 rpm you don't want the car to stall at say 4200. See what I am saying?

I was going to go with a 2800 stall but after asking around found out that with my 4.10's my 3200 stall will act just like a 2800 but the car will run like one with a 3200 stall.

Keep in mind my car is a stock internals car.

You will need an angle guage and a flat ground or lift that picks up by the wheels. check the angle by the front of the pinion yoke to see what angle it has in relation to the ground. This is Madmans way he checked and set mine at No Problem one year at Thunder shootout. set at -2.5
