Faster on the street?
I was wondering if any one else is like this, car is ALOT faster on the street than it is when i run it at the track. My best pass on motor has been 8.9 in the 1/8 my buddies's 05 GT does 8.6 all day. tonight we ran them on the out skirts of town and I beat him by about a car. Same with my friend in his fully built SRT4, on the track he would beat me every time but every time we raced on the street i would beat him by a couple. Just wondering if i am the only one that has this problem and see if any one has some ideas on it. thanks for any input

I had the same problem a few years back with a 90'coupe H/C/I and 100 hit of the sauce, I had beaten cars that ran 6.6-6.7's 1/8 mile but myself couldn't get anything better then a 7.1@104mph with a 1.97 60ft! you more then likely having 60 ft issues? I know i'm new to this site but I have many years of drag racing cars under my belt and I know alot of racers on here!

I would leave the engine alone and work on your rear suspension and transmission and torque converter if you have an automatic car. If you look at NHRA Stock Eliminator cars, you'll find that these cars already had 300-400 hp from the factory, but their suspensions and torque converters weren't up to the job. Suspension, torque converter and rear end gears is where you'll find the best results.

people don't take into consideration that reaction time plays a BIG role in who crosses the finish line first. it isn't as apparent on the street because you don't get a timeslip showing your reaction time.
i've beaten NUMEROUS 11.70 or 11.80 cars on the street w/ me on motor, and my car doesn't usually run 12.0 more like 12.20's. HOW? reaction time, traction, that's it. i've pissed tons of people off when i win and they have way more power than me and actually et. faster than me. that is just how the street is.

I've raced some pretty fast cars on the street and beat them, its all in the suspension setup whoever hooks wins. Just because you have a car that makes more power doesnt mean **** if you cant put it to the ground.
