Default Manual Trans and MT ET Street Radials

Anyone using these tires with a manual trans? If so do they work well for you at the track. I know they are a great tire, but does the sidewall of these tires give enough to use with a manual tranny. I use an iron disc clutch and launch around 5,500. Racers please chime in!

Bias-ply ET Streets work much better with a manual transmission than radials.

Thats what I've always used, just trying to avoid the tire change at the track! Thanks for your input.

Im wondering this same thing. I am looking to purchasr the dr's pretty soon. I was wondering if a manual would shock the tire and just make it spin, since no sidewall flex.

My drag radials spin forever floored. They tell me to slip the clutch or mod the suspension.

Drag radials and stick cars don't work. Stick with slicks and get the Stiff sidewall.

For a MN6 you will want a bias ply slick. The stiff sidewall construction of the radial will not absorb the shock well when you dump the clutch, resulting in tire spin. On the other hand I did pull 1.7's 60' with 275/40-17 Nittos. I had to launch the car alot lower than I did with a slick.

the only way they work is if you slip the **** out of the clutch. you will end up crushing the clutch fast. go with bias ply slicks.

im sorry i shoulda been more specific, im on DMS suspension(springs,LCAs,relocation brackets,SFCs,ADj PHR)(lowered) and tokico shocks.

i launch different from other ppl, as the lights come down on the tree i rev higher and higher. ie 1st yellow rev to 3k, 2nd light rev to 4k and 3rd i rev to 5k and slip just a hair/dump the clutch lemme see if i can find video of a launch.

http://media.putfile.com/Brandon-vs-Rob sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt, i was babying it due to the stock TA being cracked and bent lol.

but you get the idea of how i launch, i dont just go up to 5k and hold it.

why in the world are you going to a 325????? thats way over kill. my street tires are 295s, but my MT DRs are 255/50/16 and thats plenty of traction. not to mention youll have more rotating mass cause of the bigger tires

First off, my car is mostly a street car. I needed a tire that could hook a lot of power while still being able to drive distances and not get super worn down.

I've had the 325s for a while and they are just fine. I make 700-800whp and they are the only thing that can hold that kind of power from a roll. Plus, i like the look and my car is light enough to where i could really care less about added weight from the tires.

just get some slicks! i cut 1.42 60's on motor(last year,i will be 1.3's this year) m6 car w/4.11's. i've tried m/t tires, drags and streets and for me they did not hook well. i run m&h racemaster cheeter slicks 26x11.5x15 www.intercotire.com i run drag radials on my stock rims, they hook better then a stock tire, but still spin too much.
