Default M/T Drag Radial or Hoosier DOT Drag Radial?

I will final have my Wheels in hand on Saturday. I plan on running 26" tires, 275 50R 15's. My question is M/T Radial's or Hoosier DOT Radial's? Has anyone run both, and which did you like best? These for the most part will only see the track.

if you are going to run the drag radials....( i have had both at the track)
they are equally sticky...1.48 on the m/t 275/50/15 and a 1.49 on the hoosiers..

but the hoosiers are considerably lighter if weight is of importance to you..if i was to get caught in the rain..the mickeys still suck but i bet they would be better than the hoosiers

I had my eye on those, but I wasn't sure. I'm tring to stay away from running a tire that requires a tube. I was under the impression all bias ply's reqired tubes, but I think I was mistaken. Do you have to run tubes with the QTP's?

i know i'm not the ONLY person, but i have never ran a tube with any biasply tires. i have the 27x11.5x15 QTP's now. i've only been to the track 2x's with them though

i have never run tubes. i dont feel they are needed untill you run very low pressure and or screwing the tires to the wheels

Either one of the Drag radials is a better tire than the bias ply stuff.

What bam-bam said sounds about right to me.
On a good track they both hook about the same, the MT will be much better if caught in the rain. The Hoosier is like 8 lbs. lighter per tire.

IMO ..... yes

GrannySShifting's Cam only M6 car has cut some 1.4 60' with the smaller 275/60 M/T DR's and he thinks he can get it in the 1.3 on some 325/50 hoosiers. ( I have my doubts on that)

They drive much better than the bias ply's also.

the bias ply stuff is still going to have more potential than a drag radial. the radials will feel better going down the track though.

Hows that?

The hoosier DR's are a softer compound than the bias plys and will transfer more energy if you get them to hook (susp. set up right) because of the stiffer sidewall.

on an auto i 100% agree. on the stick cars, that dont have pure setup drag racing suspension, the stick cars have trouble shocking the radials. thsi is just my experience. 1.3 60' are easy on the radials behind an auto. i definately know this. on a stick, its tough.

with your idea of the stiffer teh sidewall the better, he might as well put on some nittos

Why I said softer compound AND stiffer sidewalls

Granny has all poly ended susp. parts. No solid ended race car stuff

I think that was the old way of thinking... it can be done and if you can do it it will go faster.

JMO .... I dont know **** though

I went to the Hoosier QTP. I am in love with them. You won't be disappointed.

Thats why I went with the QTP over a drag radial. I'm running a transbrake and didn't want to shock my 12-bolt like a drag radial will.
