4.10 or 4.30 gear
I have a bolt ons 99 ss with a 6-speed. I have a lid, shorties and a tune. On a street tire i went 13.30 at 108.32. I am buying a 12-bolt and DRs. The drag racer in me wants to get the 4.30 gear, but i am second guessing it. I know with my tire size and mph i should cross at just over 6000rpm. Is this too high and will i acctually be slower e.t. wise with a 4.30 or will it have enough steam at 6000 that it would be worth it. I currently shift at 5800, is this about right? Info would be greatly appritiated. Thanks!

Get the 4.30s and when you get a set of DR get them 28" Tall Looks like you have a set of welds already so just get some 275/60/15s. I have the BFG drag radials and they hook awesome on and off the bottle. Here is a pic of what they look like, they tuck well and look good!!

Don't worry about 4.30's once you get a head/cam package. 6800 RPM's with 28" tires will get you over 131 MPH with them which should be enough to get you through a 1/4 mile with no problems. I'm getting ready to put a spool and some 4.30's or 4.33's in my 12 bolt as soon as I get the chance and I fully plan on making it through the 1/4 mile without running out of gear.
