Default Drag radial guys

Anyone use various rim sizes with their drag radials? Im trying to find out if a same height 15" drag radial gets better traction than a 17" drag radial due to increased sidewall and flex compression etc? Manual transmission launches are my concern.

the sidewall difference between a 15" and 17" DR of the same type/size will make a difference, the sidewall on the 15 being the better of course

yip.
some have good luck. there are always those cases.
on another note, i hear the MT ET DRAG SLICK with a radial construction works good on a stick car. not ever to be driven on, but good for the track.
you can get them thin too. 28-29-30"x9"

yup, DRs are not good for launching on m6 cars. They are good for roll racing though since it's the best alternative to street tires.

I picked up a ton of traction going from a 17inch wheel to a 15inch wheel with a DR.

I would recommend ET streets over ET street radials for an M6 car.

For a track only tire, m6, go with a stiff sidewall slick.

ive cut harder 60ft on a mt radial over a 28x9 slick and a et street. so the radial can blow up a stock rear im sure.

Ellis did a 1.52 60 foot first time out last year with 275 40 17's....To bad the fuel pump took a crap that day before more tweaking could be done...Hoping this year for easy 1.4's with a new Yank converter vs. my now broke as hell PI 3200 verter.... They can work very well in the right combo...

Even though some have had some success it is almost always because the car is not making big power.
When I was running the 325 50 15's off the footbrake I was running consistent low 1.4 60's with a best of 1.41 but I never hooked once off the transbrake.

We need to specify. For those not wanting to buy wheels, obviously a 275 DR will be leaps and bounds better than a street tire on a stick car. Would easily be good for some 1.6's. And for a street car, thats pretty adequate. IMO.

I have an m6 and i cut a 1.7 60 ft with 275/40r17 m/t drag radials. I have a lightly modded bolt on car with STOCK suspension. I don't understand why people are saying this tire is no good for a stick car. I have had alot of sucess with this tire. My buddy with a h/c m6 car has hit a 1.6 60 ft with the same tire. I don't understand where this is comming from?

It is all in how much power you are trying to stick

I come out of the hole on a 200RWHP shot and a 800RWTQ spike Going for a ride does not even cover what it feels like and I am spinning past the tree to 1.4x 60fts every time

With an M6 you cannot just dump the clutch with them or you will just spin. The trick is to come off the clutch VERY quickly. With 255/50/16s I pop wheelies and have not hit the limits of the tire yet. I haven't tried launching above 5000 RPM yet but I am expecting low 1.6s launching 5500-6000. This is with 423 RWHP, 12 bolt with 4.11s and light suspension modifications and 3660 raceweight.

I run 275/40X17 MT drag radial on my normal rims, thats the tires for crusing and street racing. becasue no matter what i can not launch the car at 6000 amps on the street and the radials hook just as good and ride alot better ont he street. but at the track i run a 10.5X16 MT et street. adn wrinkle wall lets me hit the tires alot hard,. I dump the clutch at 6000rpm's off the two step. and they will hook, sometimes the spin the tires inside the rims. haha. M6 car, best tire i have ever had on the street. but does not hook like the other. at the track
