Default 2001ss will 28" drag tires fit ?

Presently running 26 ET streets and run 1/8 mile tracks.
My car just shifts into third when finishing the 1/8.
I'm running 3:73 gears, was hoping to put 28 drag tires on if they'll fit and hope I wont shift into third, do you guys think this is the right move ?
Should I go with a taller gear or give it more gear and have it shift early, it's still my street car also.

What's your shift point? Have a dyno sheet?

If you get the right offset they will fit. We just put some 325/50/15's drag radials on a camaro and to do some massaging but they will work.

Check and make sure it will get you what you want first
it all depends on your shift points and mph you are running
here is a calulator:
