Pan hard bar tower brace. Don't need it if you don't plan on hitting any curbs or anything that would have side impact.

This statement is dangerously false.

This bar provides much of the support for side loads on the rear axel. Some drag racers have removed it without problems. No road racer with any engineering sense would remove it.

Ok
Drag race car only hear. Dragstrip only. No auto x or street time.

Does it do anything in this case?
Does it make it more likely to sway with it off?
Or will I never know its gone?

i have seen this debate a couple times. most of the time people get by without it but i have heard a a few people saying that the mount coming off the frame started to bend without it. i personally drag raced my car a few years without it with no problems but if you're worried about it just leave it there for peace of mind. its not like its super heavy.

Exactly. It isn't going to make THAT much of a difference without it. If you are doubting it, leave it on.

if you need the bar gone for clearance for something then you could just weld some reinforcement to the mount for added strength.

Its been debated many times, I can 'feel' when mine is off but the main reason I leave it on is my tires are very close to everything. If I get out of shape and bump something going down the track enough to move the rear end over and cut a tire I'm double fucked. Its a couple pounds and its in the rear of the car so i'm not concerned about it enough to argue about it. If you need the room its easy enough to box the stock mount and reinforce it but its easier for me to just leave it in..

But many have no problems without it on the car and I have no issue with that either, its your car

I mini tubbed it and it looks like it helps hold that bracket up and with all the metal gone around the bracket now it seem like it might need that bar more.
I am going to leave it on for now if I need room later I will work something out with it.
I have not put bigger tires on it yet but that bracket looks to me like it would rub before anything does. Does it cause problems for big tires tucking in?

I had mine off and put it back on. My car is far from any of the fast ones here but it made the car squirm around more coming out of the hole. I actually had to straighten the Pan hard mount back in place to get the bar back in. So for safety I kept mine. Some get along with out it just fine. I decided to be safe then sorry
