Default Help, Tub question

New to 1/4 mile racing, how do you tub your car to fit wider wheels/tires? I have a 2001 TA and am thinking about making more room for some bigger slicks. Are there kits or do you just go to a body shop and have them fabricate the wheel wells?

thanks

Additional info,

I am going to get the moser 12 bolt with 4.56's. in next two years I will replace motor with 427 stroker ls1, hoping for 500+ rwhp. so i want a slick that will eliminate most traction problems and I don't know if tubbing the wheel well is needed.

A lot of us are already running some fairly big tires...

You can get a 28x10.5x15 slick on a 15x10 inch rim on the back without tubbing.

I would only minitub the car if I was trying to run a really big tire and lower the overall height of the car...

When we have time we will put up a gallery of pics that show folks' setups...

Back half/ tubbed cars
Fit 28x13.5 tires under mine fine just some inner fender hammering done.

I have seen fairly wide tires are you wanting drag slicks or street tires wide? You can get a fairly wide tire by just working the inner fender with a hammer but if you decide to tub the rear it does take a bit more work. Using tubular control arms does free up a lot of room though.
