Default New Times for Slightly Modded y2k m6 Z28

Went out to Great Lakes Dragaway last night in WI and was able to get 5 passes in during a 2 hour spand
Here are my times with no weight reduction and stock goodyears at 24 PSI and a 150 lb friend riding shotgun with me:

Run 1
1.213
2.25
5.908
8.921
79.25
11.675
13.815
106.06

Run 3
1.088
2.288
5.986
8.954
83.92
11.458
13.57
106.87

Run 5
1.193
2.132
5.746
8.732
79.78
11.478
13.853
94.52

Run 4
0
4.064
7.75
10.683
84.65
13.177
15.325
104.73

Now I know that a 15 sec pass for an LS1 is crazy, but there is an explanation. For some reason when shifting at higher RPM's into third (5500-5600) the car feels like it bogs down and decelerates almost like I had just downshifted or something and you can hear almost a pop or a loud thump. Also when I get to the end of the track the clutch pedal feels like it is dead and doesn't disengaged all the way, but there is no grinding and burnt clutch so I'm really confused! When I shift it into third at a lower RPM (5000) it chirps the tires and I have no problem, but unfortunately I'm not making the best use of my power at the high RPM levels. I think a 13.5 1/4 is respectable for a 2.3 60'. If I would've cut my 2.132 60' on that run I might've had a 12.9. I think with a better 60' and nittos I can achieve the 12.9. Any thoughts?

thanks

First off, keep your 150lb friend either in the staging lanes or in the stands. Second, you need to figure out your optimal shift points. I'm guessing you're short shifting pretty badly. Third, get that 60' down to at least a 2.0x. That's very attainable on street tires. Do that and you'll have your 12.9.

You should remove the spare & jack as well as all the floor mats (at least the driver's side). You'd be surprised how many people can't achieve full WOT because the floor mat is all mushed up under the pedal.

After you pre-stage, inch forward enough to just trip the stage lights. That'll give you a few more inches to try to hook up before you roll through the beam.

Hope that helps...

Dan

Those are some pretty nice times for Wisconsin and having a 150 extra pounds in the car. Nice MPH for those e.t.s

What do you mean by this? Anyone have problems with the hurst shifter? I used to have a pro 5.0 in my old car and loved and think I'm gonna look for one now.
