That's what I am looking for. That is one of the spots that I was thinking about mounting it. Does it affect it in any way to have the handle bent like that? Do you have a pic of the outside showing the handle? Any tips before I start to make a hole?????

For the hole, just mark the spot and start drilling. I used my cordless Black & Decker

KP>>>>>>> How far does your handle stick out when off(pushed in)? It looks like if I trim any off of the handle then it might hit the rear bumper cover when I try to push it off. How far does the handle stick out when the switch is in the on position? Mine seems to stick out a pretty good ways when I have it pulled out.

thats what i was wondering if it was bc of nhra...now you go do me a favor...go outside...start your car...get and 8mm or 1/2 whicher you have top or side posts...then disconnect the ground wire...and listen to your car die...then come back and stop talking about the alternator...has nothing to do with it...the ground will ELIMINATE the circuit...there will be nowhere for anything on the car to be grounded...also removing the battery will kill your car for this reason...you can unhoook the power wire from the batt but not the ground
i simply asked why we couldent do this, you can rear mount a battery and ground it in the back, wouldent have to run alternator wire all thw way back there...it makes more sense to me

Per 2007 NHRA rulebook:
"Mandatory wen battery is relocated, or as outlined in Class Requirements. An electrical power cutoff switch (only one) must be installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily accessible from outside the car body. This cutoff switch must be connected to the positive side of the electrical system and must stop all electrical functions including magneto ignition. The off postition must be clearly indicated with the word "OFF". If switch is "push/pull" type, "push" must be the action for shutting off the electrical system, "pull" to turn it on. Any rods or cables used to activate the switch must be a minimum 1/8-inch diameter. Plastic or keyed switches prohibited. Switches and/or controls must be located behind rear wheels on rear-engine dragsters.
And it even has positive in bold in the book. I think killing the ground on a 4th gen camaro will make the car quit running. I think with all the electronics on the car is why. I think older cars would not die by just disconnecting the gound. It does not really matter though whether it kills the battery or not because even if it does it is against the rules not to use it on the positive side. Tech at all the local tracks I have been to do not even tech my car so it would not matter if I even had a switch but if you want to be able to pass tech everywhere if you had too then thats the way it has to be done.

i used a regular kil switch(not rod type) and drilled a hole in the handle and ran some allthread with nut on each side and made it a push pull style for alot less money, never reallly looked to see if it was nhra legal, but a friend that bracket races at alot of nhra tracks has the samesetup on his car and never had any issues......what everyone think about this???????
