I don't know of any complete "kit" out there, but it's pretty basic (but pretty involved at the same time).

You need a sealed battery box (Moroso makes a nice plastic one), a master disconnect switch, and cable...

Most folks agree it's not worth it unless you absolutely need to free up room under the hood, or are really serious/hardcore about drag racing. Moving the battery from the front to the rear does shift a good bit of weight to the rear of the car, but the whole process will add a few pounds overall due to the extra cable, etc...

I found it to be a good mod on my '94. It moves all that weight off the front end (good thing) and puts it over the tire that needs it the most (another good thing). However, I now must carry a can of "fix a flat" and some prayer beads due to no spare tire/jack.

Overall, unless you have already removed the spare and jack, you save weight. The kit only adds a few pounds (one cable the length of the car, one plastic battery box, one strap, two "J" bolts, and then a short ground cable.)

summit and jegs sell the moroso box that George it talking about, they also have a flaming river shut off switch.

I am running 1/0 car audio wire, but most guys use welding cable.

gotta rewire mine, it shuts off the battery but NOT the car...

I don't think the bmr is race legal, must be sealed.

anyone know if that moroso box will fit on the rear shelf on the driver's side of the car? (Where the Factory CD-Changers are mounted)

Nope, it's too big to squeeze in there. I have mine right in the center of what would be the T-top storage area.

i have the moroso sealed box with an optima red top in the t-top storage area. i used 2 gauge wire and also the moroso severe duty switch. it had a higher continous rating than the flaming river one(something i wanted on my daily driven race car). and even though most tracks dont mind which type of switch you use(push pull or twist)i opted for the push pull. i can remove the stick when im not racing for that whole out of sight out of mind thing

dang. I'd LOVE to move my battery into the back, but i'm not up for losing my t-top storage nor my spare tire space. I've got friends who have put their batteries on the driver's side, but no boxes. Guess i'll continue my search.

If you use a dry cell battery do you still have to use a sealed battery box. I was told you didn't, just checking. Thanks

you can put the battery anywhere in the car as long as its in a sealed box(or seperated by a firewall from the driver). and as far as dry cells go...i was told that all batteries must be in a sealed box(when not behind a firewall)
