Default canton oil pan question

i have a canton oil pan and we just tried to put it on yesterday and it wont fit properly. its a 6.0 iron block and the lady at canton said it wouldn't be a problem on this block. i am using a pickup tube from a 98 camaro z28 and the also the windage tray from it. canton's website recommends a gm# 12558251 fbody pickup and a oem windage tray # 12558253 which i assumed was the pickup tube and windage tray i have. the pickup tube hits in 2 spots which are right about main cap #1 where it turns off the oil pump it hits the pan and the actual pickup with the screen hits the bottom of the pan. the screen isnt a problem to fix but i don't want to bend or dent the actual tube at all to make it work. do i even have the right pickup tube?

any help would really be appreciated.

thanks in advance,

David

sorry if this is in the wrong section i didn't know where to post it

My canton didn't fit worth **** I had to take the allen head screws out and beat the baffels down. Then I had to use a thiner spacer on my widage tray. and make dimples so the windage tray was not to close to the rods. Then i had to bend the pickup tube closer to the windage tray up front. Either way it fits horrible but i made it work.

I just installed the 15-242 Canton pan on my LT1. The website says "direct bolt in." It didn't come anywhere near close to clearing the stock pickup so I called Canton and they said I would need to buy their pickup for that pan. Direct bolt in....my ***!

I have a canton for my lt1 and love it. You do have to use there pickup though, and it is much higher quality that stock and doesent have the cover over half the pickup.

I think that is probably the reason most avoid the Canton and use the Moroso pan. Maybe you can still return it and save a few headaches.

Add me to the list...

Canton's customer service is CRAP. The lady that answers the phone is nice but...you never get a call back from the person who supposedly is going to help you out.

They are a good buy but, when a manufacturer won't stand up behind their products they should be rung out!!

I ended up spending more $$ and getting a custom fabbed one.

I have to agree! The canton pickup is a NICE piece...and best of all it bolts on, no more pressed in pickup falling out.
