Yet another NEW BEST!!!
Woke up this morning, saw that the weather was awesome and headed to the track!
got there around 10:30am, paid, tech'ed opened the cutout and threw on the slicks.
Changes since last time:
10.5psi in the slicks vs 12psi
Airbag had 11.5 psi today
Ran with 3/4 tank of gas versus a full tank last time.
Onto the results:
First pass, car launched the best of the day but was all over the track and my shifting was a little sloppy:
Here is the slip:
Sixty: 1.539
330: 4.717
no 1/8th time/mph
1/4: 11.173
mph: 123.37
WOOHOO!!! New best on first pass.
Car was all over the place so I knew I had more in it. Patman came running over and said "I thought you might take it easy on the first pass but you busted out a new best!!!"
Went back in line for the second pass:
Sixty: 1.566
330: 4.657
1/4: 11.158
mph: 123.71
Yet another new best!
Sixty wasnt as good on this pass but my shifting was a lot better and the car much straighter...
Got back in line after about 15 minutes:
Sixty: 1.60 (spun bad)
330: 4.740
1/8th: 7.205
mph: 97.18
1/4: 11.165
mph: 123.62
Was happy with that one but wanted more!
Now onto the best one:
Waited about 20 minutes and grabbed a hotdog/powerade then headed back in line:
Sixty: 1.576
330: 4.657
1/8th: 7.195
mph: 97.39
1/4: 11.154
mph: 123.71
How is THAT for consistent!!
11.17, 11.16, 11.158, 11.154 All over 123+ mph!!
Cool thing is my two 11.15 runs had identical 330 times and identical 1/4 mph! (Were spaced about 2 hours apart)
Shooting for 11.0's next Then onto Tens!!!

Re: Yet another NEW BEST!!!
Chris, fine bunch of runs. When I was running times like your, I ran Hoosier 9x15s at around 12 lbs and launched at around 5500 rpm after a moderate burnout. My average 60' was 1.57. So then I tried 26x10x15 Hoosiers at 14psi, massive burnouts, and rev limiter launches. 60's went right into the high 1.4's . Are you still running those 8.5" slicks ? Try what I did, and with a light load of gas and I bet you get 11.0s easy.
One other thing ....... looking at your 1/8 ET, I bet you are not powershifting first to second. IMO, the most important shift to nail quickly is first to second. With almost 98 mph in the 1/8th, I think you will get 7.08 to 7.10 with a 1-2 powershift. Your car and my old set up are extremely similar and the times you just ran are just like mine were before I did these changes and then dipped into the tens.
Go luck next time out and go get your ten.

Re: Yet another NEW BEST!!!
Thanks guys!!
I am powershifting 1-2 but granny shifting 2-3. 3-4 I also power shift.
My main problem is keeping the car straight at St. Thomas up until the 1/8th.
At TMP the car launches and goes pretty straight.
I have to do a fair bit of correction at St. Thomas.
That is a good idea about the slicks, I will definitely try that out when these small tires are cooked.
Also I am launching at 4500-5000rpm so a 5500rpm launch on a stickier tire should help me out and get me into the 1.4 range...

Re: Yet another NEW BEST!!!
I think I'll try out the 26x10 inch MT ET Drags. I am going to call and see if they have a set of blems I can get cheap. These 26's are already pretty cooked

Sweet!
I agree with Mic5ey, you are at the limits of the small slicks and running them at a psi that would require screwing them. You are also running them at too low a psi according the the weight of the car, and the low psi is what is inducing the sick amount of swaying I bet you see at the top of each gear...
I'm expecting a 10 second pass out of you this year.

Re: Yet another NEW BEST!!!
Thanks PSJ
Slicks are already screwed on the rims...
Going to look at a bigger tire soon...Not sure if 4.33 gears and 28x9 inch slick or a 26x10 inch slick and keep the 4.10s

Re: Yet another NEW BEST!!!
chris,
Congrats on the new best(s). You're running better n/a then you did w/ the blower, if I remember correctly. (mph lower, but so is ET)
