GUESS MY 1/4 MILE TIME!
Just picked up a 1998 SOM Z28 for my brother. Its a 6 speed car, t tops, dark gray leather, really nice. First mods were doing are going to consist of a Pro 5.0 shifter, 4.10 gears, lid, and an FTRA. Provided he can hook up, (might get him some BFG's) What do you all think he'll run, I think 12s are easily attainable.

Need more info..
What track?
Stock Tires?
You gunna powershift?
If all things come together I'd say 12.9 during the summer time.
Also I've never heard of a 1998 SOM Z28?? There are a few rare 2000 model, because GM released that color in 2001. Is it a custom paint job? If so thats pretty cool =)

You know, i was wondering about that too, I always thought SOM was a newer color, but its a 98 and it looks SOM to me. The dealership called the color "brick", but ive never heard of a GM paint designation called BRICK before. Ive got the link to the car that they still have up on their website, ill dig around and see if i can find it.

theres the link to the car that was on their website. As far as the track goes, I'll be running at Cecil county dragway in MD, which is a notoriously fast track, they prep the **** out of it. I usually run 2 tenths and 2mph faster there than anywhere else. And yes I plan on powershifting, and we will make some passes on street tires, and some on the BFGs.

The color of the car is actually called Cayenne Red Metallic. Kind of a rare color itself, and it closely resembles SOM. A friend of mine here has one, and it's very beautiful.

you know what? I know cayenne red metallic, and i never thought about that. My friend has a 97 that color, but to tell you the truth.....his car seems to have more of a red hue to it, wheras this car seems to have more of an orange tint. The pictures are deceiving, it looks closer to the orange/rust color in person.

Re: GUESS MY 1/4 MILE TIME!
i doubt you get 12's in this weather even at cecil. Maybe 13.1-3's with just those mods. Its a 98 so she isnt blessed with the 01-02 et's
I believe it can go 12's with good air, but only upper 12's untill ya'll do some power mods
not sure if you are a member, but check out www.easternfbody.com cause a bunch of our members go to cecil all the time. Ive only been there once, but got my stock internal beast there

Harold, I know you dont remember me, but weve met before at a dyno day at Woodbridge Dynotech way back when, like 3 years ago or something when I just bought my 93. You might recognize my name from other boards "BRIAN93Z28". I think that was the day that you could only put down like 255hp and were having problems because of your torque converter or something.

Im gonna hit the dyno at temptest in Waldorf soon cause I just got the heads installed so i need to dyno tune. Maybe ill break 300hp this time
