There has already been a thread comparing the two. Your gonna get way more people saying the M/T are better because not allot of people have used the Hoosier. I voted M/T because you said street / strip and I've read that Hoosiers aren't that good for street driving but are the better strip tire of the two.

how much power are you making that you need that much tire?
there are cars across the country running in the low 8's and many in the 7's using 275/60-15's and stock style suspensions.

the hoosier tire is a better compound/construction on paper, but from what i have read the service life is very very short.

I am not running this size tire for a performance advantage, I just prefer the look of a 30" tire on the car, I know it will run faster on a smaller tire but, I am not going to class race this car so it's not an issue.

makes sense.
if that is the case i would go with the M/T's. if you know you are going to hook on a tire that size anyway, you may as well pick the ones that will last the longest for you.

My biggest complaint with the hoosier tire is that it's not a street tire, 2 thin water grooves, you're *** is toast on the freeway with it raining good. The M/T from what I have seen actually is designed with street driving in mind.

Only down side is that it weighs more.

The 315 60 15 M/T DR is 39 pounds and the 315 60 15 Hoosier was 31 or 32.

Depends a lot on the street and tire with wet traction. We were testing my old nova and it was leaving wheels up on the street with a 250 shot off the transbrake with a mist on the ground, but it had a 33x16.5 =)

Old street racing days =/

ET Streets can be pretty hairy on the street driving, I was on a set of ET Streets and was driving around a long banking curve and the car seemed like it was drifting over into the other lane a bit so I started to move over some and the car fish tailed a few times back and forth before I got it back, now that was scary.

I was just on BFG DRs and lost it cruising at 55mph on the freeway in the rain. I got caught in it..only time it was in the rain too. Car did a couple 360s and slid off the road. I saved it at the last minute but had no traction to keep it on the road due to the rain. That was a bad day, and I was lucky to not have any damage besides my pride lol

Ha-Ha glad you didn't do any damage, don't feel bad, you're not a real racer until you've had your first crash =P

18.0's? Ha-Ha, I only have one experience racing an import, I remember back in 1998 I took my kid's mom's car to the track at pomona and ran a 40 shot on a stock 95 nissian altima 4 door automatic with the baby seat in the back LOL 15.1@ 89 mph, can't even tell you how much faster it was than a lot of the lowered, under tire pressured imports and american cars with tools that couldn't drive.
