Default What front springs and spring rate is everyone running?

I just ran a 10.70@129 with a 1.75 60" I cannot get the car to transfer weight like it should to hook up and bring that 60" down.I am looking into front springs but dont know where to start at on the rate for our cars.My car is not lifting in the front to transfer some weight.I currently have the BMR springs up front and i dont think they work very well at the track.I have seen many people run stock front springs that they have cut to get the ride height they want but then wouldn't that just take the spring rate out of the spring and change it to where it wouldn't transfer weight.I am currently on stock front shocks also but looking to get a set of the Strange singles and just want to get some feedback on some springs.

Thanks,Joe

Heres a pic of the launch

I'm going with R-series front QA1s with their 275# springs. Stock rears and stock rear shocks..

Gets some QA1's for all four corners.. fronts 275, rears stock (until this year). Also check your pinion angle.. and if possible corner scale your car. By corner scaling you can move weight to the rear.

I used to have big problems with the front coming down to fast and un0loading the rear tires.

I went from QA1 SAs with QA1 315 Springs(LTx car) to QA1 DAs and stock LS1 springs and the problem was easily adjusted away

I tried every possible pinion angle and tire presures at the track that day with no luck off the t-brake N/A even foot braking. The only thing i didnt mess with is the front torque arm adjustment as i dont know what it does or which way to adust it but it is set at the 4th hole from the bottom. The CE's on the rear are at 50/50.Are 275 springs up front going to be enough? This is a full weight car, probably 3800+.

the front TQ arm adjust up and down would be the adjustments you were looking for.

Raising the front of the torque arm up should make it hit the tires harder. Relocated LCA may help too.

Thats a nice time compared to the 60'.

Someone told me once that bringing it down will hit the tires harder.I guess it wont hurt to try it out further up.

QA1 300# (I DD the car, otherwise I'd have done the 275s)

Just get the nose off the ground and the weight on the rears long enough to launch.
Relocated LCAs and proper shocks make a world of difference.

I'm stuck between the Stranges and the QA1's.Either one will be better than the stockers!

I was hoping someone would have made a fixed 90/10 front shock for our cars.I did a search here and all different shock manufacturers for days now and there just are none.

Your ole Shadetree racin *** just wanted a 90/10 Comp Engineering front shock that was maybe $80 bucks! ha!... Don't blame you tho!

I did some looking tonight too. I don't really think its the front TA mount that needs adjusting, it hooked at EC off the brake on the bottle that night. At MMP it just needed to hit the tires much softer the way it immediately spun. But some weight transfer would have helped I'm sure.

I didn't find much on strange stuff yet. But wolferacecraft's site, they do a good job explaining the QA1 stuff. Looks like it'll be about 500 bucks anyway you go just for the fronts. Good thing the CE shocks for the rear are so cheap!

Wolfe says the pro-coil set up is a lil better than the normal "coil over" set up since the spring is mounted to the stock body mounting location with the "pro-coil" and with the "coil overs" it mounts to the shock itself, which is only a little stud. Makes sense to me!

http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=381

I would just go with the 300 lb springs either way, with no sway bar on the front, and 275s, when you bolt up the FM5's and corner a little faster, it would probably dip real bad.

No worries about the ride height with either set up, as they are all adjustable.

As for everybody else. The rear of this car has bmr springs on it. I see a lot of people have stockers in the rear. Which would cause the rear to "squat" on the launch more than the bmr springs do. Theory states the cars aren't suppose to squat on the launch...shouldn't the bmr springs on the rear be better than stock ones....stiffer > softer ???

I didn't see those shocks listed for our years of cars. Nice shock/spring setup though.

275# QA1's in front, with stock V6 springs in back with the "heater hose mod" & QA1-R single adjustables on all 4 corners set the way MadMan said I've only 60'd a best of 1.69 twice but I have a 6spd car with a 9" and otherwise stock suspension and I'm a sucky driver.
