Default Weight removed from mini tubbing

Down to the very last 2 pieces to cut out.

Take a guess of the weight I have removed from my mini tubbing project. Also weight listed for a full tub.

Then when I am done I will post a new poll after I weigh everything I put back in to see the actual weight savings for a 16" mini tub, 17" mini tub and 17" full tub.

i know, thing that sucks is this bracket i removed was hard to get to and i had to grind the hell out of it so i can't weigh all of it, it's behind the middle speaker behind the metal, but any way I can't say for sure but my guess is 70 pounds.

it was alot. I was surprised when I threw my car on the scales that it was really pretty light for a turbo car (2500 lbs less tranny and driveshaft and some small miscellaneous things)

THe weight loss due to the minitub really helped there I'm sure

I will take photos hopefully this week, I took out all of the factory passenger side tub, and everything on the drivers side but I left the hump over the gas tank filler hose because I have a street car LOL, kinda

when you take out the tubs there is a bracket right in the middle and there is also a large bracket that runs from the rocker panel to the top where the door latches, that was a bitch to cut out since I didn't have my cut off wheel and had to use an angle grinder.

I cut my panhard bracket down the side to be flush with 17" from the fender lip, then of course I cut the factory frame back 17" from the fender, only thing I have left to actually take out is like the 1/4 of whats left of the factory top spring mount.

I have one box that is full which weighs 56.5 pounds, which was what cutting the frame to 17" and half of the tub like the wolfe kit.

Since then I cut out the inner parts of the wheel tubs and traced up high the pattern to raise the tub up to the bottom of the rear hatch ledge.

I have about 1/2 the other box full so it should be interesting.

I took photos of all the pieces I cut out and layed them on the garage floor, to say the least it is a lot of metal.

Right, that's a full tub. Weight savings won't be equitable to what a true mini tub job would.

How much do the tubs weigh? Interested in the actual amount of weight you shave.

Actually I weighed everything before I went with a full tub, 16" from the fender lip to tub everything weighed "49 pounds" with only 1/2 the tub cut out.

17" from the fender to the tub including some of the brackets I trimmed was "56.5" pounds with only 1/2 the tub cut out..

Now it is 17" from fender to tub and tubs up to the top of the hatch, so we will see what taking out the other part of the tub and 2 brackets on each side I cut off were worth.

So now you have the weight reduction for a mini tub with 16" and 17" tub to fender depths and will have a full tub weight reduction coming soon, minus the little hump over the gas tank fill tub, gotta keep that it's a street car

When I am done I will weigh everything, the tubs which I still have for the mini tub only 1/2 the tub, the full size tub when I do it, the metal plates to box in the frame.

After I am done I will weigh it all and then list how much weight you save with a 16" mini tub, 17" mini tub and 17" full tub, of course not counting the gas filler hump I left.

Either way it will give a good general idea.
